re: Everquest Next

I have to say, the community around this game is quite good. A lot is going on.

re: Everquest Next

The current issue of PC Gamer UK has a long article about EQ Landmark and Next. Some old info but also some new info.

I'm happy to wait a year or two for all the bugs to go away. Can you imagine spending hours building something and then ~*GLITCH!*~ I'm not going to be the person eating my keyboard in frustration. By the time I get there, the library of cool decorations will be nice and big. :)

And another great video where the Landmark/EQ staff gives another great example of how to communicate with players.

And Kira, as I just wrote in a PM to you: In Everquest Next you could build a racing course on your claim (or multiple claims) and have horse races on your very own turf.

re: Everquest Next

I absolutely will be playing EverQuest Next Landmark.

For the past couple years I've played another sandbox game called Wurm Online. It's an indie game made by a guy in Sweden, and basically it's a big generated world. Players can buy a "deed", which is basically a plot of land that you can claim anywhere on the server that's not already claimed. Once you have your deed, you can terraform, build, mine, & craft to your heart's content. I had my own village with a farm, a horse breeding operation (horses had specific traits, and you could selectively breed horses to try to get specimens that had all good traits and no bad ones), a foundry, a winery, a shipbuilding area, and a bunch of other stuff. Since I was on a PvE server, nobody could grief my village. The things I crafted in the village I could sell to other players, and then I could use that currency to buy items from other players, or pay my monthly "rent" on the deed.

Anywho, I say all this to say that I adore sandboxes because of how they embrace CREATIVITY and COMMUNITY, which are very LMB characteristics. I'm VERY glad that Sony is doing what they are doing with Landmark. I'm absolutely going to be there, and would love to play with LMB if there is a LMB presence there.

TANGENT: Some folks have mentioned musical instruments. I love this idea for Landmark. However, if you'd like to try another sandbox game with musical instruments, there's a 2-D sandbox game called Starbound. They have craftable musical instruments and use ABC notation for playing them in-game. For example...

Annnnd I just saw the post that Floradine made on the EQN forums about the music system. Excellent! I've posted my support there as well.

They are not confirmed yet I think. But it's an MMO and you got to get somewhere else fast. I would expect EverQuest Next to have mounts. If Landmark will get them I don't know. Probably not. We will have to wait and see how large claims in EQN will be. I know that you can own multiple claims in Landmark and thus make larger areas and terraform them at your hearts content.

Link to the post, please? Maybe we can all support cosmetic, horses, and of course most importantly... music!

You have to be a Trailblazer Founder (buy a founders pack) to read it, Kiralynn.

Another short video of what is coming in the next few weeks:

She mentions "travelling" in Landmark. Now I am very curious what that will be!
