Greetings, Banders!

The Galloping Gala is coming up in the first week of May. Turbine is starting to make plans for this event. I am hoping to post a request in the Suggestions forum asking Turbine to re-release ALL horses and equestrian cosmetics during the Gala. All store-exclusive mounts, class steeds, war horse outfits, and so on. Of course, there's no point in my posting unless I can get a bunch of people to reply favorably to it.

If I post such a request, would you be willing to take a moment to reply to it and support it?


I am also considering starting a thread asking them to fix some of the equestrian bugs, including saddle bounce/riding animation problems and issues with war steed speed control (IE: skipping speeds). Would you be willing to support such a thread in the hopes that we can have these fixes in place before the Gala, and if so, what other horse-related bugs should I mention?

Also, on a (vaguely) related note, I posted a suggestion to add a recipe for the multicolored fireworks from the 'Lobelia's Fireworks' quest line to the next anniversary festival, under the heading, Craft: Multicolored Fireworks.

Aye, I would support these petitions. I want that Spring Blue Roan Pony! If they're so focused on store sales, this should be a no-brainer for them to trot out the equestrian items for the Gala (then again, you'd have thought they would have brought out the fashions for Fashion Week). As for the riding bugs, yeah ... fix em, I say!

Yes on all accounts. But what about the riding animation-bug? Are you going to ask about that too? I mean... the horses are their premium items on the stores. It's quite stupid that they can't get them right once and for all times.

I will add my votes as soon as I'm home. The Turbine forums are not working proper on my phone. I can't post anything because the reply button won't work.

I do plan to start a thread about the equestrian bugs. I figured that I would wait until everyone has a chance to add their bug-fix suggestions to the list.

For example, we might want to add war steed speed commands and hot keys to the list.

Ah yes, and they should adjust the positioning of the saddles that are too far back -- can anyone remember the specific saddle item names?


I also told Rick and Celestrata that I'd buy pizzas for their office if they fixed the riding animation bug and the war steed speed bug. I know those are extremely low priority bugs, but hey, it's free pizza... :)


Please DO mention that the horses are less appealing when there are bugs on them.

I only wish. Not only is there still the bouncing bug, but now you can't just hit Insert twice to fix it. You start bouncing again, gradually more and more, in the very next stride.

Folks have pointed out that a good war steed cosmetic set costs between $20 and $30 for a coat style, coat color, equipment color and some tack. I sympathize with other posters who said that they won't pay $20+ until the horse bugs are fixed.


So for horse issues/bugs we have...
* Saddle Bounce - the riding animation puts the rider out of sync with the horse.
* Variable Speed - Tapping W or S sometimes skips a speed. IE: directly from walk to canter, skipping trot.
* No Speed Commands - There is no slash-command (IE: /trot) or key-mapping available to control war steed speed more accurately.
* Dye Issues - Dye doesn't apply properly to all war steed cosmetics. (I believe the Leggings of the Wold won't dye black, can anyone confirm?)
* Rubber-Banding - War steeds are extremely prone to getting stuck on corners and fences, then rubber-banding back to that point a long distance/time later.
* Lack of Zoom - There is no +/- zoom in/out feature on the war steed dressing room.
* Stiff Manes - War steed manes move as a single piece, which looks bizarre when they shake their heads or perform other animations.
* Painful Saddles - Several saddles (including the Rohirrim elite, can anyone confirm?) are positioned too far back, forcing people to ride on saddle horns. OUCH!
* Odd Jumping - The horse jump animation looks very awkward and unrealistic.
* Odd Turning - Horse turning animation is odd. They appear to slide rather than turn, especially at speeds faster than a walk.


Okay, what am I missing?

Another thing you can do is submit a bug report on the riding animation problem. Yes, they will see it's a duplicate but if, say, 20 people post the same bug on a given day it should be kicked up to priority.
