re: Ales and Tales (Hall of Fire report)

This week's Ales and Tales found us in Rivendell at the Hall of Fire!

The Free Peoples of Middle Earth came in droves to admire the fine elven architecture, wine, and poetry. Some of these luminaries were:

Adelo, Aelinnor, Aerogrim, Algrogo, Alisceon, Annastassia, Araduna, Astleigh, Aylina, Balgosa, Benjimir, Brenyn, Briffo, Cryssi, Diamiond, Diancecht, Drathoros, Eldifor, Eledraug, Elisal, Elvyniel, Escana, Faldeger, Falibrand, Farionthir, Faynwen, Galenswerd, Gilrandar, Giorfast, Grayhawke, Gweoddyn, Harperella, Heatherleaf, Icemn, Ithmadrae, Javelarry, Kaleigh, Keptwise, Kinnickinic, Lainie, Lannos, Lennidhren, Lokath, Lumesia, Lunnatheburg, Lynxa, Lyonardo, Makalaure, Meribuc, Moirweyn, Mymir, Naerrin, Polograd, Rainlilly, Rauldros, Razzallon, Rixi, Rohanwood, Saker, Syp, Tamirien, Thinhith, Turula, Valaraein, and Webtank.

That's 63 of the Free Peoples, a new Ales and Tales high!

After a brief tune from Harperella (Lord Brand's March) Javelarry was disarmed and Turula and Lumesia started us off with a wonderful tune that smacked of the Shire.

And Kinnickinic shared a moving poem about a thunderstorm passing. She should not have told us to relax, for Javelarry was snoring in the front row!

Naerrin shared a touching story of loss, love, and redemption in the Tale of Falassil and Fenwe. Harperella helped with accompaniment of her words.

And then it was time for dancing! The Eriador Music Society was more than willing to supply us with music!

The Hall of Fire was a perfect place for 4 person dances, with each dancing circle clearly marked on the floor. Truly it was an amazing sight of grance and light as our dancers slipped in and out of there places... Of course, Shirefolk have a unique perspective on such things...

Falibrand, Dovie, and Diamiond played a tune while Astleigh sang the words to The Fall of Gil-Galad. This tune uses a poem by JRR Tolkienm set to music by members of Fathom, and transcribed to ABC by Astleigh of the Lonely Mountain Band.

This song had a special significance, since one of our own stars has fallen, as commemorated by Galenswerd:

This hall is no stranger to joys and sorrows, such as we experienced this eve at this special Ales and Tales.

Thank you all for coming and making this the wonderful event it is. As always, all are welcome at the table to share music, tales, poems, games and more.

This next week we will be hosted by the gracious Sons of Numenor in their kinhall in the Breeland Estates. More details to follow.
