Exciting to see something like this. Doesn't happen often. Looks like one adds more info about Tom Bombadil.

Very cool! =D
This was in the Guardian's preview of their article on facebook, but it's not in the article itself:
"There was a man who dwelt alone
beneath the moon in shadow.
He sat as long as lasting stone,
and yet he had no shadow.
The owls, they perched upon his head
beneath the moon of summer:
They wiped their beaks and thought him dead,
who sat there dumb all summer."

The above is an extract only from the full poem.
The below is also an extract:
Noel
Grim was the world and grey last night:
The moon and stars were fled,
The hall was dark without song or light,
The fires were fallen dead.
The wind in the trees was like to the sea,
And over the mountains’ teeth
It whistled bitter-cold and free,
As a sword leapt from its sheath.

The Shadow Man, a 24-line poem that tells a fantastical story of a solitary man who becomes animated as if “sprung of stone” when he meets a “lady clad in grey”, was published in a slightly altered form in 1962 in a collection of poems called The Adventures of Tom Bombadil. Bombadil appears as a minor character in The Lord of the Rings.
Noel, a Christmas poem, is 40 lines long and tells the story of the birth of Christ. Mary, the “mother of Heaven’s king”, sings so that her voice is carried “O’er mist and over mountain snow/ To the walls of Paradise”.

Very sweet, that he gave these to a school newspaper.
