March 16th was an exciting day and night!! The Annual Bywater Steeple Chase Horse Race and Fashion Show was a huge success. A crowd of over 70 people showed up to the starting stage in Tookborough, with around 25 fashionably dressed participants in the fashion show organized and hosted by Kiralynn of the Lonely Mountain Band.
There were many fancy horses and exquisite costumes, most were dressed in green in honor of Bullroarer Took Day. We were entertained by many skillful horse tricks, like bows and rearing up, flaming breath and salutes. Aalloria Borealis won third prize in her Green jacket and top hat, playing a quick Irish Jig and a few horse tricks, for which she was awarded 500 tp allowing her to progress to the next questing area. Lhinnthel with her giant lily and light green outfit was awarded 500 tp and gold for her beautiful dress and dreamy horse. Genessa on her giant black Minstrel steed took first prize and 1000 tp with her coordinated outfit that everyone could admire. There were many other wondrous outfits, and it was a close vote for all.
Honorable mention went to Beorbrand in his fine green armor, Lilikate and Mimelen were a wonder to behold as well. The Bywater Steeple Chase followed directly after a short interlude of music by Faerochil and Harper. It was a huge line-up at the start in Bywater by the inn, with valiant steeds of every kind entered into the race. The pace course was run, a challenging race crossing waters, bridges, steep hills and dense woods. The early dawn sunrise brought out the many variant colors of all the racing costumes and horses, and the fresh morning air was filled with the electricity of excitement!
While Aalloria bolted out in front upon the signal by Kiralynn, Barabossa her Black Bay couldn't hold onto the lead as many more familiar with the Shire found excellent cross-country paths to the checkpoints. The lead passed back and forth many times, especially over the dam, rocks, and waters that were constant obstacles in the well laid out course. In the end, Tweetybird - a new applicant to the Lonely Mountain Band, took third place on her Green Winged Herald steed.
Captain Andeon, drinking from his victory cup and voicing challenges to the many riders, proved his worth in taking second place on his mighty mount, Annudir. The final victory, however, was to be won by the swift Huckleberry ridden by Nisael. The race was attended by so many, and the finish so close, that the judges used both video and screenshots to ensure a fair finish was reported, and everyone celebrated in Nisael's victory.
At the conclusion of the Steeple Chase, Kiralynn totalled up the Racing Season points, and announced the overall circuit winners. In 6th place was our own Beorbrand with 8 points. Fifth place was won by the LMB's Byrcha and 9 points. Nisael, with her Steeplechase victory, took 4th place place with 12 points.
The circuit leaders, 3rd place was held by Lifebringer at 13 points. Then came the surprise! A tie for second place at 14 points between Captain Andeon and Caiydd - the winner to be determined at the Spring Racing Carnival in April!! A rivalry has been established with betting of much gold going for both sides.
In the end, however, there can be only one - and that coveted position of First Place and the Grand Prize winner was Craicwyth. He secured his overall victory riding several steeds: Snowrose, Wanderer & Lossenmeril for a total of 25 points!!
Several riders challenged each other to re-matches, and various races and drinking parties were started so the celebrations could continue. At midnight the raunchy yet fun-loving Bards, Beer, and LongBeards Band took over from Animal House in front of Bree's own Prancing Pony, and gave a spirited concert to a crowd that fluxuated between 30 to 50 dancers. Shintako donated a couple of decorative Wooden Kegs for those with winning lyrics, as BBB played in their ornate green outfits perfect for the season!! Beag handed out around 300 booze and fireworks, as the band which consisted of 13 members, played fast Jigs and ballads.
Overall, it was a great success, and everyone who participated continued to show the Landroval community how our spirit of togetherness and fun can transend a game and become a world of adventure and friendship. A hearty thanks goes out to everyone!!
