We need a name for our formation riding team!
Perhaps it's just the Windy Acres Ranch Riding Team.
Maybe you can think of something better.
We also need names for each unit (group of 4 riders). Something short and cute?
Our drum team might want a fun name, too.
You don't have to be on the team to suggest a name (or uniform), so feel free to share your creative ideas!
Here are some unit name ideas to get things moving...
Individual Names
Royal Fair
Renowned
Green Meadows
Horsemasters
Mystic
Silver Spurs
High Noon
The Outlaws
Outriders
Aces High
Calaboose
Grangers
Bogtrotters
Ghost (Yep, ghost riders!)
Themed Unit Names
Diamond Riders, Ruby Riders, Emerald Riders, Sapphire Riders, etc.
Fox Riders, Bear Riders, Wolf Riders, Raven Riders, etc.
Valley Riders, Hill Riders, Meadow Riders, Canyon Riders, etc.
White Riders, Blue Riders, Green Riders, Red Riders, etc. (based on uniform dye)
Elk Ridge, River Run, Foxwood, Seven Oaks, etc.
Gold Riders, Silver Riders, Steel Riders, Mithril Riders, etc.
Beartooth, Buckhorn, Wolfclaw, etc.
Now I know y'all can do better than that!

Non-Creative: The Rohan Riders, of the Riders of Rohan (Lol, no.)
Creative: Equestrians Equidae (the family of animals that a horse is in)
Drummers: Drumming Ostlers, or just Drum Ostlers
Though I like the idea of Ghost Riders or the Bogtrotters

Would be nice to use "Windy Acres Ranch" somewhere in the overall team name, to provide connection to WAR's other events. Though I suppose it could be as simple as "name" sponsored by Windy Acres Ranch.
For the individual units, are these permanent names or are these names only for a particular performance? I like color-coded names, as long as the colors correspond to what we'd be wearing, but it is likely we'd be changing outfits for different performances, or even different portions of the same performance.

I would imagine they're permanent. When we're practicing and organizing for performances, it will be easier to say, "Diamond Riders, wear navy blue, do your routine first. Ruby Riders will be up second." Also, each unit might elect to do extra practices if they feel it is needed. After everyone learns the ropes, I don't have to be there every time.
(Speaking of which, I may or may not be there this coming Wednesday, as I have jury duty starting Monday and have no idea how long it will take.)

there's an interesting idea...
if you can tie the uniforms and tack(? - is that what you call the horse dresses?) to a color, the teams could just be exotic color names...I've always been fond of cerulean, vermillion (thats a reddish, I think) and so forth
**EDIT - FOUND THIS WHILE LOOKING FOR EXOTIC COLOR NAMES - SADLY, DOESN'T CONTAIN "CERULEAN", ONE OF MY FAVORITES, BUT IT IS MENTIONED IN THE COMMENTS :)**
http://www.wordnik.com/lists/exotic-color-names
**DOUBLE EDIT - FOUND A LIST WITH MORE OF MY FAVORITES - APPARENTLY PEOPLE ARE NAMING THEIR BABIES AFTER COLORS - I'M NOT SURE THAT'S A GOOD IDEA, BUT HERE ARE SOME MORE POSSIBILITIES**
http://nameberry.com/list/255/Color-Names-for-Babies
I ever meet the girl named "Azure" though, I may have to marry her on the spot

I went and voted and was surprised that 100% of us voted for the heraldry colors. Then I looked, and it's only me that voted.
Go! Heraldry Colors! Go!
*Edit: And now, I just realized that the reason I was the only voter just now was because she only posted the survey 7 minutes ago.*

Our formation riding team now has organized units!
Azure Unit - Naethril with Indrabar, Kestryl and Engilbert.
Argent Unit - Craicwyth with Caiyyd, Lifebringer and Lhinnthel.
Sable Unit - Byrcha with Trignee, Cuthrek (Elondhil), and Minorkey.
Purpure Unit - Indrabar with Kiralynn and future team members.
These units are somewhat flexible. They have been established to help us organize faster for practice.

Practice was a lot of fun last Wednesday! I realized later that I won't be able to make practice this Saturday or next Saturday due to my family hosting picnics at 1:00 est on both days. I'm not sure if we have plans for the 4th, if not I will try to make that one. I will log a different day this week and try to run through some of the formations so I don't get too far behind!

The practice on July 4th is optional.
Win the Steed of the Jester in Turbine’s lottery! Log in at my.lotro.com and browse to my.lotro.com/home/lottery/ to win. The contest ends July 1 at 11:18:00.
This amazing 168% (+68%) speed horse has 250 morale. It was a random drop from the Flower Gift Boxes during the Spring Festival. This may be your last chance to win the steed before next spring!

Just FYI for anyone who couldn't make practice today, we mostly continued work on the moves we did Wednesday. We also started on the Tree of Gondor, as well as Row to Column. It was lots of fun, several hiccups at first, but we got it looking pretty darn good near the end! I think our biggest issue right now is staying side-by-side as we walk forward in a row. As it is, we're not all starting at once. But that will likely iron out once we get it set to music, and everyone knows the music cue to start forward. I look forward to learning more with y'all!
