--Character Background--

Few are the things that may push one to leave an entire life behind; many are the things one may abandon to lighten the load of a long journey. A name, however, is scarcely a thing to simply toss aside as kindling into a midnight blaze. For old Goldthistle, however, it seemed only natural.

He was once many things, but one loss too many drove him to turn his back on his homeland of Dale. His journey was long, as he set off with no destination in mind.

Somewhere along the way he invented a surname. Somewhere a bit farther, that became his sole introduction. Farther still, and even he forgot what he was once called. "Just Goldthistle," he'll say in introduction without hesitation.

Age and drink once led to a wasting away of talents. Now, however, old Goldthistle has found himself in a land where hints of corruption lie all around him. He is roused to action, and has again taken up the shield to protect those less able as he steps into the twilight of his life.
