Ashannon Graywhiskers is an old man, far older than most would expect an adventurer to be. He lived most of his life in a quiet hamlet of about 25 people a small journey from the village of Archet. The hamlet was so small, it didn't even have a name, as the people who lived there didn't require one and most everyone else never bothered to call it anything but "Ashannon's place". This was because Ashannon was the one who once in awhile traveled to Archet to trade for goods his small hamlet didn't make for itself and to get some rare luxuries.

Ashannon was the closest thing the hamlet had to a leader, mostly due to his age and his knowledge. All the lore and traditions passed down through the generations of the small hamlet he knew, (or least claimed to, sometimes he made it up) and he was seen as a bit queer, as the hobbits put it, a funny but friendly old man who knew herbal lores, talked to animals and knew a few other tricks to brighten up a day or to make life a bit easier. He's a rather comical old fellow, sometimes wobbling between silly, serious and senile as the situation may warrant.

Ashannon's tale began on one of his rare trips to Archet. Upon returning to his hamlet, he found it burned to the ground and the residents scattered in the woods. Finding them all, he found out that two hobbits has passed through and the Blackwold bandits had razed the village to look for them. The residents scattered when the Blackwold appeared, as they always did, but this time they had no homes left to go too. Ashannon led his small band to Archet and got them settled away and returned to the hamlet to see if there was anything salvageable left. However he was captured by a small Blackwold band and imprisoned with a strange man named Strider who seems to think that this somewhat silly old man had something for the greater good and encouraged him to go out into the wild world and help. Ashannon agreed, mostly to get out of the prison, but sometimes things have a way to taking life and all you can do is see things to the end.
