Greetings, Aranlaf! Your application has been accepted. The next step is to find an officer in game for a recruit interview. The easiest way would be to /joinchannel alesandtales and ask if a LMB officer is available. We do look forward to enjoying Middle-earth with you!

Name : Osforund Game : Lord of the Rings Online Server : Landroval Level : 39 Gender : N/A Race : Dwarf Class : Rune-keeper
Have you read & do you agree with LMB charter?: Yes
Do you understand that Kin chat channel is for LOTRO and Tolkien related chat only?: Yes
Use this area to share why you want to join LMB.: This, from the charter: "LMB holds the appreciation and study of Tolkien's works as an integral reason to exist...The stated focus of the Lonely Mountain Band kinship is to celebrate Tolkien's world through Turbine's adaptation to a virtual world." I'm a long time LOTRO player, and I keep coming back not because I am a serious gamer (I'm not), but because I love Tolkien. I so much enjoy being able to spend time in Tolkien's world, rendered pretty darn well (in my opinion) in this game. I have been looking for a good kinship for a long time. The ones I have tried have been focused on the gaming aspects, not the setting, or the lore.
Player info:
Age Range: Old Fogey
Tell us about any MMO or RP experience you may have: : Mostly LOTRO. I tried WoW and hated it. I tried DDO...didn't hate it. But it's not Middle Earth. No RP experience.
Please tell us what time zone you are in. (i.e. EST): : EST
Character information:
Tell us about your character: : I don't have a bio for my character. I don't RP, but I am certainly happy to respect it, per the charter. I am also a little curious to see how it goes.
I hadn't played Osforund in a while. He was languishing on Riddermark--that tells you how long it's been! I transferred him over to check out the kinship, and because it's still free to transfer from Riddermark!
Please tell us of any previous/current kinships you have character(s) in LOTRO. : Tried quite a few. I'm not a difficult person. Just haven't enjoyed them much.
LMB experience:
Were you referred by a current member? Who?: : No--found out about your kinship online.
Have you ever been to LMB hosted event? If yes, what were your impressions? If no, are you planning on it in the next week? (Highly recommended!): No, but I will try to attend one (see the last bit about my time restrictions).
Gameplay preferences:
What activities do you enjoy most in LOTRO? : Questing. Crafting.
Kinship expectations:
What are your expectations from LMB as a member? : I hope to be able to spend time in Middle Earth with people who value the setting and the lore as much as I do. (Or maybe even more, from the sounds of it!)
What do you think your strongest contribution to LMB would be? : I'm friendly. I enjoy spending time in Middle Earth, and I hope I can share that enjoyment with you folks.
Tolkien:
Have you read the books or seen the movies? What are your favorite scenes or images? : I've lost count of how many times I've read "LoTR" and "The Hobbit"--five or six, probably. I've read "The Silmarillion" and "The Children of Hurin" twice each. I've read some of the other books, but not all. I've seen all the movies. The "LOTR" movies are excellent, I think. The "Hobbit" movies...not so much.
It's hard to pick a favorite scene. Perhaps the one on Mount Doom, before the eagles arrive, when Frodo says to Sam, "I am glad you are here with me. Here at the end of all things, Sam." Beautiful.
Misc:
Is there anything else not covered in this application that you'd like to share with us? : As I mentioned, I am not a serious gamer. I am a father (young adult age sons), with a job and much stuff I have to do. So my time in LOTRO is sometimes limited. But I hope I can contribute to the fun while I'm in game.
