PostPosted: 2010/04/25 2:55 pm    Post subject: Background

Halawe was born amidst the trees of Mirkwood. He was brought up, like most elves, to respect nature and its inhabitants. Enthralled by the forest, he chose the path of a hunter at an early age. Often Halawe would wander the forest and listen to its lively hum. On a particular day, Halawe heard a foreign sound while strolling through the trees. The sound was of steel striking steel, followed by a loud, taunting yell. Bow in hand, Halawe rushed to see who was disturbing the peace of the forest. As Halawe drew closer, he saw that the disturbance was caused by a stocky dwarf battling against four wicked goblins. The goblins were too preoccupied with the noisy dwarf to notice Halawe's approach and the dwarf was too occupied with the four goblins to notice a fifth goblin wielding a bow preparing to fire. Despite his natural distaste of the dwarven folk, Halawe could not let the fellow be shot down in such an unfair way. Swiftly, Halawe fired a shot at the goblin archer and felled him. Halawe then helped the dwarf finish off the other four goblins. The dwarf grunted that he could have handled the situation himself and claimed to know of the archer the whole time. Halawe asked the dwarf's business in the forest and the dwarf proceeded to explain that his scouting party had been ambushed by a party of goblins and he had escaped the brunt of the force by moving to the forest. Moved by pity, Halawe introduced himself and learned the dwarf's name, Thrallrock. Outraged at the tenacity of the goblins, Halawe and Thrallrock decided to temporarily and only out of necessity, work together to drive out the evil goblins. Perhaps the long road ahead will create a bond believed to be impossible, a friendship between a dwarf and an elf.
