re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

Hello!

Myst has asked if we can help out with the Fellowship Walk.
Here are the Windy Acres activities on the schedule:

* Some kind of demo or show for Monday, September 23 at approximately 7:15 or 7:30pm.

* Black rider appearance for the ride to Old Odo's Farm on Saturday, September 28th.

* Mass black rider chase up to Weathertop, probably on October 5th or 12th (both Saturdays) at approximately 2:00pm. (No more than 9, of course!)

* Black rider appearance for the Ford of Bruinen crossing - date uncertain.

* Horse fashion parade/contest during the final day - Thursday, October 24th at 6:00pm.

All Banders are invited to participate!

To be a black rider, get a black horse, pony or war steed. Wear an outfit that is the most wraith-like you can devise. During the event, we'll join a Fellowship to coordinate.

To participate in the riding demo, bring your most decorative steed (or war steed) and wear an amazing matching outfit. If you're on the riding team, wear your team uniform.

To join the fashion parade, wear your most festive and colorful outfit. Bring fireworks!

Let's help support this worthy charity. Do I have your sword, axe or bow? :)

You have Byrcha's daggers, or whatever weapons Belyndil is carrying these days.

As far as I know, the schedule for the Fellowship Walk is Sunday, Sept 22, Monday Sept 23, and each Saturday thereafter until the finale at Rivendell in late October. I cannot be at the Monday Sept 23 event, but should hopefully be able to help out on the Saturday events once I know the times.

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

Myst says that we're going to be the highlight for the opening on Monday, September 23 at approximately 7:15pm. They will start at Bag End and end somewhere in Green Hill's Country.

I'd really like to make a big showing for this. All Banders are welcome to participate!

Here are some ideas --

* Will everyone be on hand to do the last routine? That would just require a little refreshing and a nice farm field. I doubt anyone would notice, especially if we use different standard steeds, costumes, and closing music.

* We could have a rodeo. We could be the barrels, do a demonstration, and invite everyone to barrel race around us.

* We could half be black riders and half not. The "patrol" could ride escort in uniform and toward the end "save" the walking group from our black riders by dueling.

* At the very least, we can do an honor escort in uniform, clearing the path of mobs and launching fireworks ahead of the walk parade.

Whatever we do, let's please try to decide by the end of the meeting on Wednesday?
I'm really trying not to drop the ball of this, though it is difficult to do while I'm moving in real life. Please do offer whatever suggestions and assistance that you can. It is sincerely appreciated.

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

I'm sorry I couldn't make the Wednesday meeting.

Four electricians just worked at the new house from 9am to 9pm with two half-hour meal breaks. They're not done yet. Meanwhile, four more contractors came out to take measurements and prepare estimates on brick-work, roof and window repairs. The A/C has been tinkered with but needs more work. The painter starts on Monday. I worked and organized from 8am to 11pm.

The Rivendell Challenge is this weekend and the Fellowship Walk is Monday.

Is there any news from the team about Fellowship Walk participation ideas?
Does everyone have the team uniform?
Do you all have a black outfit to wear as a Black Rider?

Thanks so much for keeping up on this while I scramble to have a real-life and a virtual one!

Hey there,

Just letting you guys know that I am going offline for a bit now. I move in less than 9 hours and won't be back until I get the net and computer set up at my new house.

If you have any concerns or questions please email Fellowshipwalk@gmail.com and Lilikate will be able to help you out in my absence.

Have fun

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

Sorry Kira, we had two new riders last night so we spent the time going over some basic maneuvers. For Monday, I would think that the honor-guard/clearing-mobs suggestion would be simplest to implement at this point (unless a security detail isn't needed there, in which case skip it). Having Black Riders appear on a nearby hilltop at the end, or riding slowly along the road once the fellowship has left it, would be a neat touch.

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

Today was only 8am to 8pm! The mason's crew finished the brick work, the master electrician's crew finished their work as well. Between the sledge-hammering, drilling and cutting of brick... banging, sawing, and drilling of wood... it was the loudest day ever. At the height of it, eight contractors were working at once. Somewhere in all that chaos, the pool guy managed to do his job. The roofer and painter arrive Monday.

Here's my suggestion for the opening day -
* If you have the riding team uniform, make sure you have it ready to go.
* If possible, also have a black rider outfit ready to go.
* Bring lots of fireworks.
* Bring your musical instruments.

This will allow us to ride escort, menace from a distance as Black Riders (we get close-up later on at Weathertop), launch fireworks up ahead, and play some equestrian-themed music from horseback. We'll adjust depending on how many people volunteer to help. Remember, you don't have to be on the riding team to participate!

If anyone has suggestions or clever ideas, please do share them. Thanks!

I can't seem to get the new patch in. I'm still working on it. Please do start without me!

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

This Saturday is the Fellowship Walk's trip to Weathertop.
That means we need to be ready as Black Riders!
If I'm guessing correctly, the event begins around 2pm /servertime.

Here's the plan:
When given the queue, we'll appear on the horizon and begin a walk toward the Fellowship.
They'll panic and begin to run to Weathertop.
We'll continue to harass them, growing slowly closer, all the way up.
Finally, we'll confront the walkers on the peak of Weathertop.
They'll put up a big show with fireworks, sparklers, campfires, /firebreath and whatever else combustible they have handy.
Eventually, that will drive us off.

Probably on another weekend, they'll leave Weathertop. We stay away until they're almost at the Ford of Bruinen, at which time we harass them once again. They'll make a show of magical display. We'll get halfway across the river, and milestone elsewhere to "disappear" beneath the waves.

We can have up to 9 riders, of course. Please get your black outfit and tack ready!

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

So, while the Andune Ensemble played, enough donations came in to take us to Harloeg, past the Last Bridge and all the way to Bilbo's Trolls! And we only got lost once or twice! So, 10/19 will likely be the flight to the Ford of Bruinen.

re: Windy Acres at the Fellowship Walk

HUGE THANKS to the riding team who showed up to be Black Riders at the attack on the walkers at Weathertop!
It looked like everybody had a great time. I hope people post many screenshots.

Next weekend, the walkers will cross the Ford of Bruinen. The Black Riders will appear at the very end, when they're just about the cross the river. We'll chase them that far. As they cross over, hopefully we can get a few to turn around from the far bank and use some magic/FX. After that we'll have to find some way to be vanquished at the river.

I'd love to find some way to do a war steed forced dismount. Craicwyth, I think you had been looking into ways to do this for the rodeo. Is there a way we can set this up (perhaps with help from one or more walkers) so that we can all fall off our horses in the water and then perhaps Milestone away like we were defeated?

That will be our last appearance as the Black Riders. It has been an honor to RP with you all!

That was pretty cool yesterday, nice chance to do a little re-enactment. Thanks Windy Acres.

re: Saturday 19th October.

Kira I had assumed (wrongly) that with your event on Saturday we would not have black riders! If you can arrange a flight to the ford from 4.00pm onward that would be fantastic.

I was trying to regiggle the flight to the 24th October but I would prefer the sat.

We have a party from 2.00pm to raise funds with trivia planned.
