I would love it if everyone would post screenshots of the horse parade. I didn't have a chance to take any!
Here is the parade text:
Here is the Steed of Minas Ithil, which means Tower of the Rising Moon. The tower was built by the Gondorians on the borders to keep watch on Mordor. It has been captured by the Nazgul and is now known as Minas Morgul. Some still dress their steeds in this livery as a sign that the fearsome Guard of Isildur is not forgotten.
Let's welcome the Steed of Bright Days, descended from stock gifted to Cirion, Steward of Gondor, by Eorl the Young following the Battle of the Field of Celebrant and the granting of the lands of Calenardhon to Eorl and his people. The barding represents the flowering fields beneath a blue sky, and symbolizes the creation of the sovereign nation of Rohan.
Next comes the Steed of Night, a charcoal horse tamed by the Rangers in Angmar and adorned with trappings crafted by Eimyr. It symbolizes a renewed pact between the Eldgang and the Free Peoples following the fall of Thaurlach.
Here comes the Steed of the Horse Lords, called the Rohirrim in Sindarin. They are descended from the Éothéod, a race of Men who lived in the vales of the Great River Anduin. They later moved to Calenardhon, granted to them in perpetuity by the Ruling Steward of Gondor, Cirion, in reward for assistance in a time of great need.
The Noble Grey Steed walking out now comes from the Misty Mountains, also known by its Sindarin name of Hithaeglir. This mountain range runs for 1,280 kilometers between Eriador and the valley of the Grey River, Anduin, and from Mount Gundabad in the far north to Methedras in the south.
Let's hear it for the Winged Herald Steed, awarded to those who recruit new allies to the cause of the Free Peoples. Heralds are messengers sent by noblemen to convey messages and proclamations. They often wear a surcoat, called a tabard, decorated with the coat of arms of their master. Heralds oversee and preserve the heraldry, or unique crests and mottos, of their lands.
We bring you skeleton-painted steeds, wearing luminous white, green and red paint that resembles the bones of these jet black horses. These steeds are often seen galloping thorugh the dark of night during the chilly months of Autumn and the Harvestmath celebrations.
Next is the frightening Cave-Claw Masked Steed, dressed to resemble rodent-like creatures that live in caves and subterranean regions. Cave-claws are most common in Ered Luin and the Trollshaws, and attack if their cry of dominance is ignored. In mythology, they are one of the Nameless Things that gnaw at the world.
We now present the Cremello Steeds, which often have pinkish skin with a white mane and tail. They are difficult to breed, as horses must be carefully selected from pearl, silver dapple, and champagne stock. They are sometimes referred to as "double palominos".
This is the Perlino Steed, related to the Cremello, but with a mane, tail and points that are darker than their body hair coat, often a rust or orange-hued color. Most have blue eyes, often flecked with darker blue, green or amber. They are sometimes called "double buckskins".
Here comes the Steed of Eriador, carrying proud riders who have gained the trust of many factions. They are world renowned, respected by the men of Bree, hobbits of the Shire, elves of Rivendell, and dwarves of Thorin's Hall. They have gained the trust of the Algraig, Eglain, Rangers, Wardens, Lossoth, Grey Company, and Council of the North. It is no small feat!
Next, we bring you heavily armored combat steeds. They go by many names - Dagorlad, Khundolar, Nightwood, Victory and Dol Baran.
-- Dagorlad is a vast plain in the southeastern part of Rhovanion near Mordor. Its name in Sindarin is in reference to the battle that created the Dead Marches.
-- The Khundolar are a tribe of easterlings in the Brown Lands, a place renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. They are the late descendants of the Balchoth.
-- Dol Baran means Shaven Hill. It is a heather-covered hill lying between Isengard and the Gap of Rohan, the last southern outpost of the northern range of the Misty Mountains.
Walking out now, warsteeds with tack from the various regions of Rohan - the Wold, Norcrofts, Sutcrofts, and Entwash Vale. The riders have defeated many war bands to earn the right to wear the heraldry of the Rohirrim settlements. They have defended innocent lives against Easterlings, warg-riders, uruks, trolls, láthbears and orc commanders.
Here are warsteeds with tack that suits various professions. Patrollers, scouts, soldiers, trappers, explorers and even traveling musicians have designed specialty gear to make their mounts more useful. Each rider's gear gives a hint of what he does best.
Finally, we present warsteeds with rare coats and tack. Horses with a spotted coat cannot be bought, they must be captured from among the wild herds that roam the plains of Rohan and trained to accept a rider. When engaging the enemy, can there be any greater insult than to ride with an orc head mounted on a pike? Unfortunately, these gruesome trophies attract buzzing flies.
