I request a simple step by step process to post pics to this site. Maybe make it a sticky. I understand one needs a picture holding site, and I am learning to use it. But I always have trouble. My logic and computer logic are not one.

My own knowledge is limited, but I'll see what I can pass on
#1 - hosting images off-site is something i'm not entirely certain how to do, although I've had several people recommend photobucket as a site that does specifically that - someone else will have to cover how things like that work
#2 - there is a file library here on our website, and I *can* tell you how to upload files and insert them into posts - adding files to the gallery is a little more difficult, as I've done it before, and then forgot how I did it, and now I can't get it to work quite the way I thought it did..yes, i'm going senile - i just cope with it - and drink lots of mountain dew
step 1 - From the Homepage, select "Gallery"
step 2 - from the gallery page, select "File Library" (its a tab just above and to the left of "Default Gallery")
step 3 - scroll down to the bottom and find the "Send this file" blank box "browse" button and "upload" button
step 4a - clicking "browse" will call up a file search box for your own computer - default location for LOTRO images is (if you use windows vista - other OS's, i'm not entirely sure) user-(your user name for the computer) - documents - lord of the rings online - screenshots
step 4b - double-click the screenshot you wish to upload (you can also just select the screenshot and hit the "accept" button)
step 4c - at that point, the system should automagically close the file-search box, and dump you back into the file-library screen - just click the "upload" button, and it should save the file to the file library
this is all if the screenshot you want is on your computer - and will save a copy of that file to the our website - i'm honestly not sure what happens if you want to upload a file from an off-site website - and besides, you shouldn't need to if you have an off-site web location for your screenshots, because this is all just to create a location to link to for the post, and if you have your pics already in an off-site, all you need is the link to that off-site location
hope that all makes sense so far...now for the hard part :))

chap 1 - all right - now to take those images from the file library, and insert them into a post...this part's a little weirder, because even though the posting system has a mechanic for inserting images, it doesn't always work right...
begin by starting a post (you already seem to know how to do this part :))
at some point, you'll finish entering text, and be ready to insert an image...
step 1 - up near the top of your text-entering post page, just underneath "subject", is a line of buttons - moving right to left, the next-to-last button, if you leave your mouse over it for a moment, is called "image"
click that once, and at the very end of your page will pop up "[img]"
click it again and you'll get "[/img]" (remember, the quotation marks don't show up - its just a minor writing convention)
this is the code for the program to recognize the beginning of an image entry (the [img]) and the end of an image (the [/img]
**important note - you don't *have* to use the button - you can just type the "[img]" and the "[/img]", and honestly, that part is more reliable but clicking the "image" button AUTOMAGICALLY PLACES THE "[IMG]" TAGS AT THE VERY END OF YOUR ENTERED TEXT, NO MATTER WHERE YOUR CURSOR IS AT THE TIME
between these two image markers, you need the web-location of your image, which is why we...
step 2 - easiest solution - open another browser window/tab (each webpage you open with internet exploder or firefox or chrome or whatever is a *page* - firefox and chrome allow you to add another page into the same running program by clicking on one of the tabs above if you know how - if not, its just easier to leave your current page up, minimize it if you have to, and run your web-browser program again - it'll open up a second page for you while keeping the first one open as well)
step 3 - hop on over to the lonely mountain band webpage with this second web page...
step 4 - ...and on into the file library
step 5 - click on the image you want to use that you uploaded (technically, you could use any image in the file library, and you're welcome to use one of mine if you wish) - the image will come up, and in the browser window at the very top will be the *address* of the image (i.e in the place where you usually get http://lonelymountainband.guildlaunch.com.whatever.theotherthing)
step 6 - highlight the entire address (also called selecting - you can do this by holding down the left mouse button and running it across the entire address, or left click several times off to the side of the address, and it should highlight a single word, and then the entire address)
step 7 - copy the address (ctrl-c works for copy, or you can click on "edit"a and then select "copy" in the drop-down menu)
step 8 - paste the address *between* the image tags so that it looks something like this ("[img]http://imagelocation.intertubesr4porn.com[/img]"
that should do it - it may take some creative editing to properly place text above the image, and space the image out so it doesn't crowd out the text above/below it, but you'll get a feel for it eventually
this only seems to work for posting images that are ON our website INTO posts - the gallery works a little differently, and replace steps 2-5 with whatever picture posting site you use, and I *think* it'll still work
I hope this was reasonably helpful, although I'll understand if it wasn't - it is kinda complicated and difficult to describe through purely text - feel free to post again if you have more questions you think I can answer, and I look forward to seeing some adventurous pics in your future posts![/img]

Still need help Rixi??? - Also remember - if you hit F12 in game it makes the User Interface disappear for a nicer pic.

This really should be stickied... I mean, wow, I had to spend an additional thirteen seconds to scroll down and find it! Seriously though, it has the basic information you need for this section of the forums, and very nicely presented.

Thank you all for the "how to" info on posting pictures. I've taken a few pictures, but, I didn't know about(F12). I'll have to try posting one sometime : )

Short version for posting an already web-hosted image.
1) Get the URL of the image.
Firefox: Right-click the image and select "Copy Image Location".
IE: Right-click the image, select properties, copy the Address.
2) Paste this text into your post where you want the image to appear.
3) Type [img] directly before the image URL and [/img] directly after it.
IE: [img]http://roll3d6.com/images/dice.gif[/img]
If you can't remember the tags, select/highlight the URL and click the Image button (second from the right) on the buttons toolbar.

So there is no other way to upload an image to your forum chat than to upload it to the gallery first? Yeah, I've already spent 2 hours trying to post a picture and even following the instructions haven't been able to figure out how to do it.

I upload the images into Imjur first then copy the link they create and post.

Speaking of pictures, I created a new forums signature at siglaunch.com and I checked, the HTML code is correct (the one in my signature below). However, the picture shows fine on Microsoft Edge but not on Chrome (no ad blocks and such). Any ideas why that is?

Not sure.
A lot of programs will not work with each other. Be sure you have sigs enabled on the forums though.

Thanks! And you are right, I just noticed I can see your signature pic properly on Edge, but on Chrome I only get this for you
href="https://imgur.com/oJX29Yp"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/oJX29Yp.jpg" title="source: imgur.com"
(similar for others). So the issue is with my Chrome (maybe some app, as I have same issue with Chrome on the other box).

Yup that is why I do not use a sig on these forums.
