I've been thinking... maybe we could add the special [Drum] emote item from The Grand Stair to the instrument manual sets? Could be a fun bonus :)

You should have received a Tome of the Frog from Tasarin in the mail, sent yesterday. Now I'm concerned it got lost in transit. :/

re: Fellowship Walk Auctions

Hello, everyone!

I'm getting ready to post another update tonight. A couple of things have been slowing me down, so I'd like to discuss them with you.

Let's start with a short explanation of how this works. These charity auctions don't take place in the Auction House, but on a web site in the real world. People bid real life money on the auction lots. Once someone wins the auction, they contact the organizer with the name of the character they want the goods delivered to. Once I get the name, I log in and mail the items.

Some of you have been sending me valuable items to auction that are not on the list. (The list is in post #1 of this thread.) While I appreciate your generosity, this causes a number of unintended complications.

1) The auctions need to be epic so that people will bid enough real life money on them to make it worth the effort and auction fees. I cannot auction off a single Steel Key, for example. In fact, it will take a pretty darned big stack of keys and chests to create an auction that will interest enough bidders.

2) The items need to be stored between now and the time they're delivered. The more variety of items, the more types of items that don't stack, the harder this becomes. I'm almost out of space, which leaves me with two options -- 1) Sell off the miscellaneous items and use the money to buy more items from the list. 2) Convince one or more of you to buy 100 Mithril Coins and expand the available storage at Windy Acres Ranch.

2b) I know some of you have volunteered space for storing items. The more I have to travel between neighborhoods to store items, and the more locations I have to keep an inventory of, the longer it takes for me to manage the auction items. There's also the issue of security. If you have a house in Raglan, Bree and you are willing to limit access to only the two of us, I can use it. Otherwise, I'll have to decline. If you have something that fits the bill, please contact me. Be aware that I'll end up filling the chest extremely fast and keep it full until sometime in October, so you won't be able to use it for personal storage.

3) The items need to be sent to the auction winner through in-game mail. You might not know this, but our mailboxes have a certain size. Once they're full, they won't accept any more mail messages. Thus, the auction can't be made up of more items than can reasonably fit in a person's mailbox. Otherwise, I have to spend days sending items, waiting for the person to claim some, sending more items, repeat. It can be difficult to keep track of this with multiple auctions and winners.

So, here is what we can do to improve the situation:

* Don't send reputation items with a value below 700 points each. If you do send them, I'll sell them in the AH in order to buy items worth 700 points.

* If you have an idea for another auction that involves collecting items, please discuss it in this thread and get the "green light" before mailing any items.

* There is a difference between a manual that teaches you to play a musical instrument, and a manual that allows you to mentor a musical instrument. We're just collecting manuals to PLAY musical instruments at this time.

* We are not collecting furniture items that can be purchased from a vendor. There's no reason to store them, as they can be bought right before they are mailed.

* Maps, travel maps, furniture, tomes, and manuals DO NOT STACK. Please be careful sending items that don't stack unless they're needed. (Dyes and reputation items DO STACK. We can store plenty of these.)

* Everyone has permission to pay maintenance and upgrade chests on all the ranch houses. While I can't accept money donations for auction, feel free to drop by and tip a few copper into the house kitty.

* If no one has any objections, I'm going to auction the miscellaneous items, raising money to buy more items from the list (unless the storage gets an upgrade). I realize that some of you have cool ideas for additional item auctions. We can perhaps add one or two more, but you'll have to manage any other auction lots yourself. I need to keep the scope of this to something I can manage, both in terms of storage and time.

* If you have ideas for auctions that DO NOT REQUIRE ITEMS, by all means let's add it to the list. For example, a musical band can auction a single performance at a time and place agreed upon between the band members and auction winner. You can auction off a roleplay date, an escort through a raid/skirmish, a custom in-game video, and so forth. People have shown an interest in these things in previous year's auctions. You are only limited by your creativity.

At the moment, we could really use Reputation items. We don't have a single complete set of these, yet. They're easy to store, so we could put together two or three sets to auction before we run out of time. I'm sure the sets of dyes will be extremely popular as well. Some colors have a much larger stock than others, so please check that first post before sending mail.

Thank you so much for your generosity, assistance, and understanding. We're going to have some wonderful auctions to present!

re: Fellowship Walk Auctions

Thank you for your kind donations!

* Hollyberye - Rohan chandelier, keg, horse post, bookcase, bed, deer head, and chair; Stoor boots, winter-worm trophy, dig site, scarecrow, and 2 log holders; Manual of the clarinet and harp.
* Fayeh - Map to West Bree
* Strawberrystar - Cowbell manual
* Eugena - Tome of the Snake
* Aedon - Manual of the cowbell, map to the Lone-lands.
* Corulin - Manuals of the pibgorn and harp; tomes of the dog.
* Saelthil - Map to Ost Guruth, Miners reputation.
* Lindenel - 4x700 Miners and 1x700 Guards
* Lhinnthel - 4x700 Lossoth reputation
* Elmuir - 62x700 Rangers
* Caiyyd - 45x700 Lossoth
* Spego - 7x700 Rangers, 1x700 Council
* Gilnorvil - Map to Hobbiton; 2 log holders, 2 shield racks, 2 brown rugs, 3 braziers, long table.
* Tasarin - Tome of the frog, 2 log holders.
* Sonca - 14x700 Lossoth

We now have one complete set of animal tomes!

We DO NOT have a complete set of musical tomes, as I discovered that two manuals were for learning to mentor rather than play. We could use a Theorbo manual.

We still have a little ways to go on reputation items, but it's coming along.

Was just looking over the reputation list, and noticed that in the travel section you have 'Map to Esteldin' (with one map) and 'Map to North Downs/Esteldin' (with no maps) listed separately.

re: Fellowship Walk Auctions

Kiralynn, As I stood in Hytbold, tokens in hand, I could not find the unusual/fancy table at all. There are five pages of barter items and I have plenty of Hytbold tokens. I would be happy to barter for any Rohan item. Some items weren't there, like the log holder, so I had my woodworker make two. (I have other characters with Hytbold tokens, as well.)

Let me know if there are specific items from Rohan you want. I've done all I can with the existing list in the first post. I realize storage is a problem, and this could be done at the last minute.

Rohan doesn't have any tables, as far as I know. As far as Rohan items go, it looks like we could use a chair or two, a small tapestry, a chandelier, some shelves, and some yard items. For non-rohan items, we could use fancy tables (ones that don't come from vendors, like a pretzel or a crebain table). We could use an animal trophy or two.

They are two different maps. One says it goes to the "North-downs", another says it goes to "Esteldin". I also have maps to "Moria", and maps to specific places in Moria. I've always wondered why they make generic region maps AND specific destination maps.

re: Fellowship Walk Auctions

Greetings, Banders!

In case you're wondering why you haven't seen any updates, I'm selling my home. I've been juggling multiple offers and a mountain of paperwork. I've been so busy, the pantry is bare and the laundry is threatening to avalanche. With any luck, I'll have a chance to catch up on this and other tasks on Saturday morning. Thank you for your patience!
