Kira, Should I see if The Just Abby's are interested in performing at the rodeo? Do you also need a band for the following race?

As this is a "winner take all" type event and there will be 4 qualifier winners one 500TP award would be nice for the overall winner. Hopefully any others can be used for other events. Thank you for confirming the performance by Die Meisterbarden vonn Bree.

Are you sure you don't want 1,500 TP for your top winner, then? It's really no problem at all, there will be TP for the other events as well.

We need a band for the riding team demo at 5pm, and a band for the rodeo from 6pm to 7:30pm. They're welcome to take one or both slots, if they're interested, as I have not yet had anyone else ask for them.

The name-that-song portion of the rodeo involves playing the first bar of a song, pausing, playing the first two bars, pausing, playing the first three bars, and so on. I can do it, but if the band playing the Rodeo would like to play this contest as well, they're certainly very welcome!

i may regret it later, but I am hoping to attract racers based on the ego value of being named "the best" rather than those wishing to gain TP's. If you have plenty of TP's for other events I will accept the 1500 gratefully.

I've sent Abby an in-game mail to gauge her interest, I will let you know as son as I hear back from her!

It's always nice to help people buy new steeds and cosmetics and storage space, eh? :) Shall I PM you the codes? Where would you like them sent?

Abaraniel & the Just Abby's are confirmed for the Rodeo, they will also do anything else that is needed. Kira, do you want to let her know if you have any preferences? I also mentioned the game you would like to play during the rodeo, perhaps you might explain it a bit to her as well?

I have just completed my images, I am now going to head over to my blog page to assemble some information. I'll keep it private/draft and let you have a look, for added suggestions or amendments.

I did like Aldekim's "write in to enter" with an entry fee... but I think I shall waive the fee.

I shall also head to WAR to pinch rules too.. :)

That's great news, thank you! I'll add them to the schedule. At the moment, Craicwyth thinks he has a band for the riding team demo, but he'll let us know if that falls through, so that we can find him a replacement band.

The name-that-song game will be similar to Name That Tune, the old TV game show. The band will play just a few notes of the song, then stop for about 10 seconds, then play a slightly longer segment from the beginning, then pause, and so forth. The challenge is to recognize the song from as short a snippet as possible. Those who shout out the correct song title first score points.

I'll be working on some ABC files designed for the game, just in case we don't find a band interested in making their own. :)

On another topic --
Lilikate, you're hosting two horse races. Do you want Turbine Point prizes for your top 3 riders or just your top 1 at each race?

Hi Kira,

I was just going to ask you about prizes too!

Take a look at this... http://lilikate.mymiddleearth.com/?p=994

Password: Bogbull

Depending on what we have to award as prizes. If we have enough to give a lesser prize to 3rd and 2nd place and a bit more for 1st place in each race, then I would prefer that option. If not I would award the winner the big TP prize and give in game Gold of 10g - 15g amounts to the runners up (smiles at Bratti).

Bratti open his ledger and after some himing and hawing says, "I think we can cover that."

Aldekim, will we also be able to cover the prizes for the SRC finale? Or do we need to pass the hat?

I'm glad Bratti can cover that. I've hear, though, that there isn't much money for the Championship Cup. I'll have to see if I can raise some money before the big day. I went broke upgrading Wardrobe Street chests, so if anyone has tips on raising money fast, they're greatly appreciated!

Here is some feedback on the race course for the Smell the Roses event:
* The Needlehole checkpoint could give you serious problems. We experimented with races where you turn around like that. Unfortunately, one little bout of lag, and the judge won't see the racer cross the line. It may look like they turned around too soon, even though from their perspective, they went all the way into the dwarf camp.
* The Scary checkpoint will work because people have to go around the rock, which means at some point in that circle, they should show up to the judge. It's a little confusing, though, because you have to go around the rock and go between the lamp post and the rock. It might be enough to simply say that you go clockwise around the rock.
* Count the number of campfires and stables near your race route. Add this to the number of checkpoints. This is how many judges you'll need to make sure nobody cheats. If this is a huge number, you might want to move your checkpoints in such a way that stables and campfires don't help.

I can scrape up 1,000 TP for the top winner of each race. I'll add to this if I hear from Sapience before the big day.

The general fund stands somewhere around 290 gold at this point as near as I can recall. My ledger is on my laptop at home, but this is very close to the correct figure. With SRC and Weatherstock coming up we need to plan carefully. I will fund the gold prizes for the King of the Wind Sprints from my own funds.

Lilikate - I was looking for a "Large Stone" in this location but there isn't a suitable turn about point. I did suggest very heavily that racers once through the check can hop over the wall on the east side.

"The Scary checkpoint will work because people have to go around the rock, which means at some point in that circle, they should show up to the judge. It's a little confusing, though, because you have to go around the rock and go between the lamp post and the rock. It might be enough to simply say that you go clockwise around the rock".

Lili - I was attempting to stress the need to stay within the checkpoint, and not head in a southerly direction after half completing the rotation.

"Count the number of campfires and stables near your race route. Add this to the number of checkpoints. This is how many judges you'll need to make sure nobody cheats. If this is a huge number, you might want to move your checkpoints in such a way that stables and campfires don't help".

Lili - If someone is determined to cheat they will cheat. Something I need to add is the reason why I named the race "Smell the Roses" - To stress personal integrity and responsibility. There is Mile Stone and Camp in Hobbiton, There is an unguarded camp and milestone in Brockenborings also but to put someone on each would mean I need to find extra bodies. If it's possible I will do so, but I'd rather have those people race, or play music, judge or even be my bookie!

I will also begin to raise some race fund prizes.

Thanks for the feed back - I will go and munch over all that you have commented on.

"I can scrape up 1,000 TP for the top winner of each race. I'll add to this if I hear from Sapience before the big day". Lili - Only if it's no bother. All this talk of cheating is making me want to not advertise any prize :)
