re: Ales & Tales: 2/4 @ Greenfields, The Shire

So, we don't yet have a band or a bandleader ... but the show must go on!

Hail, friends! Join us for Ales & Tales this Monday evening, as we visit the Greenfields in The Shire!

Nibbles & Nobs starts at 8:00pm with open-stage, followed by the main show at 9:00pm (EDT, /servertime).

Help Out Backstage:
If you would like to help out with any backstage tasks, please sign up at: http://tinyurl.com/atstagecrew
Newcomers welcome! No experience necessary...we will train! We do appreciate any help you can give!

Play with Old Winyards:
Old Winyards always has room for folks to join the house band!
If you would like to play with us, be sure to have the latest LMBPlaylist 5.41 music file downloaded/updated. Latest release December 1st, 2018:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jhkhxs2930ccxtk/LMBPlaylist-5.41.zip?dl=1

You may sign up for playing with the band this week at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Uz2_Tiu4JKUeng6OyZz7iiWqTl-T4iZO5vfT3jdrlK4/edit#gid=1220015122 on the right-hand side of the sheet. Or, just reply to this post.

If you are new, please indicate which instruments you play at the bottom of the sheet (and do bring them all with you).
Please be ready to rock by 9:00pm /servertime. Please wear burgundy... the color of wine!

Using Songbook to Sync music:
If you'd like to learn how to sync music with a band, Eilye has written a very informative guide explaining how to use the Songbook Plugin!
http://lonelymountainband.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10492542

Share a song or tale!
We always need folks to entertain!
If you have a song or tale to share, please come along and sign up to share it in the main show, or participate in Nibbles & Nobs' open-mic!

We do hope you can join us!

re: Ales & Tales: 2/4 @ Greenfields, The Shire

Long Version of Ales and Tales

Every Monday evening
Just as the sun sinks way down low,
Go find the Lonely Mountain Band,
Cause that's the place to go.
And old Winyards songs are playing
And the people dance and shout
As Ales and Tales starts up again
So come and check it out.

It's the greatest thing
(Ales & Tales!)
It makes you dance and sing
(Ales & Tales!)
Give it all you've got
(Ales & Tales!)
'Cause the music's hot
(Ales & Tales!)
Old Winyard's here
(Ales & Tales!)
So grab your beer
(Ales & Tales!)
And clap and cheer!

It's Ales & Tales!

After a long hard day of fightin'
You need some time for fun.
Just follow the sound of laughter
When all your work is done.
So go and get your groove on
And take your axe along.
For that's the place that you can find
Good friends, good wine and song!

It's the greatest thing
(Ales & Tales!)
It makes you dance and sing
(Ales & Tales!)
Give it all you've got
(Ales & Tales!)
'Cause the music's hot
(Ales & Tales!)
Old Winyard's here
(Ales & Tales!)
So grab your beer
(Ales & Tales!)
And dance and cheer!
It's Ales & Tales!

Well it’s fun to share our music
And we play where e’re we can
From Rivendell to Oatbarton
The home of Farmer Tam
It will chase away your sorrow
Cause the little Burg is near
For when there's music in our hearts
Tamoro is still here

It's the greatest thing
(Ales & Tales!)
It makes you dance and sing
(Ales & Tales!)
Give it all you've got
(Ales & Tales!)
'Cause the music's hot
(Ales & Tales!)
Old Winyard's here
(Ales & Tales!)
So grab your beer
(Ales & Tales!)
And dance and cheer!

It's Ales and Tales

It's the greatest thing
(Ales & Tales!)
It makes you dance and sing
(Ales & Tales!)
Give it all you've got
(Ales & Tales!)
'Cause the music's hot
(Ales & Tales!)
Old Winyard's here
(Ales & Tales!)
So grab your beer
(Ales & Tales!)
And dance and cheer!

It's Ales & Tales!
It's Ales & Tales!
It's Ales & Tales!
It's Ales & Tales!

re: Ales & Tales: 2/4 @ Greenfields, The Shire

I am very sorry I will not be able to be there this evening. I have been rather ill and in pain and although I can see a small improvement today, the meds I'm taking make me very drowsy and a bit nauseous so I will be going to bed early.

So far, 2019 has not been kind to me healthwise but I am hoping I will be past all this soon!

Meanwhile, I have finished a Bandleading 101 Guide that I will post for anyone who wants to give it a try. I tried to make it a step-by-step guide..... detailed enough for a beginner but if someone has some experience they can just skim over and take from it what they need. If you have anything to add or see anything wrong, let me know and it will edit.

There is, it is on the list. You know the place they hold the fence running during the festival Avanc? 27.2s 67.2w. I added it to the set list page.

LMB Anthem

"Though dwarves love crafting mighty armor
Of mithril-silver and steel,
No forge in Arda could ever equal
The love a kinmate feels.

Hobbits love food and bake their goodies,
Muffins, pies, and cakes.
But all the food in Michel Delving
Will never a friendship make.
(Oh my!)

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

Men will stand around the Prancing Pony
Seeking drama all day.
We'll break the calm and bring a pibgorn
When Andune starts to play.

Elves of ages long forgotten,
Lost in memories of yore:
Their insight sparks up book club discussions
Of Tolkien's finest lore.

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

At Ales and Tales Old Winyards will play--
Come and dance to the song!
And BBB will crash the party,
Laughing and singing along.

At Weatherstock we will all work together:
Men, Dwarves, Hobbits, and Elves.
Come, Band, now and raise a glass (or twenty!):
Drink a toast to ourselves.
(More ale!) *hic*

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!

Far apart, but never alone;
Come walk with us, come take our hand!
Far apart, but never alone;
We're the Lonely Mountain Band!"

re: Ales & Tales: 2/4 @ Greenfields, The Shire

Could this be added to the announcements, please? Thank you.

Quote:
Some ambitious actors are putting on a play at the end of February or early March, called "Before the Sun and Moon." It enacts some few episodes from The Silmarillion, and runs about 40-50 minutes in length. We still need to cast a few parts, including the Elder King, Manwë (a lore-master with eagle pet), an elf or man to play Telperion the Tree, and three more dwarves to play Aulë's creations.

We'd also like a musician, or a band of any size, to play appropriate music for the show. If anyone is interested, contact Mornawen on Landroval server.

I don't know if any musicians would be interested, but it can't hurt to ask!
