re: J.R.R. Tolkien reads Riddles In The Dark (Whole - 29:52)

There are so many wonderful videos on Youtube of J.R.R. Tolkien reading his works.
I enjoyed a wonderful one this morning and wanted to share it.

J.R.R. Tolkien reads Riddles In The Dark (Whole - 29:52)

re: J.R.R. Tolkien reads Riddles In The Dark (Whole - 29:52)

Thank you for sharing this, Lhinnthel. It really resonates for me, because I turned "Riddles in the Dark" into a 45 minute dramatic reading when I was in 9th grade, and I delivered it to every 7th, 8th and 9th grade English class in my junior high school. I felt like I turned a whole school onto Tolkien. Many/most of them had no knowledge of the books before this. At the end of the school year my yearbook was full of comments about Bilbo, Gollum, and all things Tolkien. When the movies started coming out my thoughts turned to all those avid listeners and how they would be getting so much more out of the movies, because they discovered the books in junior high school.

Having memorized that chapter, it was especially fun to listen to the author's interpretation. After all this time, I can say I did a credible Gollum and Bilbo :-).
