NEXT RACE: Bywater Steeplechase - Sat Mar 16 at 8pm EST

Join us on Saturday, March 16 at 8:00pm /servertime (EST) for the second annual Bywater Steeplechase, a horse race and mounted fashion contest. Meet at the Methel-stage. We will begin with a horse show at the Methel-stage. Participants will be judged on the originality and color coordination of their outfit, how well it matches their mount, and how dramatically it is presented. The audience will vote for the winners. Next, we'll move to the courtyard of the Green Dragon Inn for a horse race. Standard (+62%) horses and ponies can compete on a long course with many jumps and obstacles, including water crossings. Racing fans will select the rider whom they believe will win. The fans who guess correctly will be entered in a drawing for prizes. The prizes for each event are 1,000 Turbine Points for first place, 500 TP and 1 gold for second place, and 500 TP for third place. This is also the final race of the 2012-2013 season before the Spring Racing Carnival in May, so we will announce the top riders in the standings and award prizes. This event is perfect for racing fans, low level characters, and visitors from other servers. To register, contact Kiralynn with your horse's name and breed before the event begins. There is a strong possibility that I will be greatly increasing the prize pool before the actual event date, which will draw in a lot of participants.

This race is best run with 6 judges, but we can make due with 4 in a pinch. Checkpoint judges can participate in the horse show (fashion contest), but obviously not in the horse race.

I would love to have a band performing music at this event. Are any bands interested in being the musical highlight of the show?

I would like to have a Bookie who will take audience bets on the winner. The bookie can also be a checkpoint judge.

barring unforseen circumstances, I will be participating in the Bywater Steeplechase - Andeon is signing up, and once again bringing his steed Annudir to race with (can't remember the breed - it's one of the summer horses with the light golden scalloped armor thingy)

It's part of Fashion Week so I'm hoping we'll have a good turn out.

I know I only got third place in my third race - but I am looking forward to Barbossa taking on some of those fancy horses!!

I can bring my back-up band to play some lively music, or join in any other band that decides to play for the day.

I plan to be there, but hope to race instead of judge. I can also assist with musical accompaniment.

Hopefully we can talk some non-racers into judging. It's a very easy job. You just sit at a checkpoint and screenshot the first half a dozen folks who go by.

I hope someone will take high-res screenshots of the gatherings for the race and fashion show. This is a big event, historical even!
