Many thanks. I am humbled and honoured. I look forward to meeting soon.

((I did make my way to Belfalas last night, hoping to meet up...Sadly given the time difference, and my being just over a tough day at work, I fell asleep...))

Hello Bjarrald! :)
Bjarrald Stonehewn
PostPosted: 2022/05/01 3:55 pm    Post subject: App: Bjarrald Stonehewn

The application submitted by Bjarrald Stonehewn is as follows:

Quote:
Name : Bjarrald Stonehewn
Game : Lord of the Rings Online
Server : Landroval
Level : 120
Gender : Male
Race : Dwarf
Class : Minstrel

Please note: While we do have a presence on other servers, we are primarily a Landroval-based kinship. Our regular weekly events, and our marquee events Weatherstock and Winterstock, are held on the Landroval server.

Have you read & do you agree with LMB charter?:
Yes

Do you understand that Kin chat channel is for LOTRO and Tolkien related chat only?:
Yes

Use this area to share why you want to join LMB.:
While I'm generally a solo player, I appreciate greatly the value of having like-minded folks to share good times with. For me, events such as campfire singalongs, tavern crawls, and concerts have really brought LoTRO to life, and I've seen this kin's name mentioned often in relation to such events. Also, having read through the charter and rules and noted the devotion to Prof. Tolkien, I am sure you folks think as I do.

Player info:

Age Range:
Old Fogey

Tell us about any MMO or RP experience you may have (RP is not required for membership, we are just curious): :
I've RP'ed my way through pretty much every game out since the late-90's, whether single-player or MMO...UO, Everquest, Rift, D&D, Warhammer Online, and WOW especially. I love a well-realised world with a good storyline, good lore, and that gives me the opportunity to cast off reality and enjoy immersing myself in a world like Middle Earth.

Please tell us what time zone you are in. (i.e. EST): :
GMT (Dublin, Ireland)

Character information:

Tell us about your character: :
Bjarrald is a bit of a loner, not that comfortable amongst others, unless he's involved in making music, or listening to others at their craft. A former shieldbearer, battle-hardened, but weary of bloodshed, he travels often between Thorin's Halls in Ered Luin, Khazad Dum, and his home in Erebor, collecting new tunes to master on his Bassoon. (In truth, 'master' might be a bit overstating it, he's barely competent, but he does love trying!) He's most comfortable amongst those of his own race, but is tolerant of the 'less fortunate' races...especially hobbits, who share his love of plain food, decent ale and fine pipeweed. Ohh, he has an incandescent hatred of squirrels, and will often abandon all reason at the sight of one, resting only when he's dispatched it to whatever hell it came from.

Please tell us of any previous/current kinships you have character(s) in LOTRO. :
I was previously a member of Durin's Folk on Laurelin. Excellent people, but I sadly had to give up Lotro for a while, and lost touch.

LMB experience:

Were you referred by a current member? Who?: :
No

Have you ever been to LMB hosted event? If yes, what were your impressions? If no, are you planning on it in the next week? (Highly recommended!):
Yes. I've been to the Weatherstock and Winterstock festivals a couple of times, (in fact this character was specifically created a few years ago for the first Weatherstock ... sadly in his attempt to make it there at low level, he was forced to break his cowbell over a goblin's head, and a bloody squirrel ran off with his flute, and so he couldn't perform!)I've also come across a couple of tavern events in Bree, which I greatly admired.

Gameplay preferences:

What activities do you enjoy most in LOTRO? :
Exploration, cooking, storeytelling and the wholesale slaughter of squirrels.

Kinship expectations:

What are your expectations from LMB as a member? :
A place to find like-minded people dedicated to enriching the world of Middle Earth, through music, feasting and friendship.

What do you think your strongest contribution to LMB would be? :
While I can't promise constant attendance, (work/family/band rehearsals/reality often forcing my absence), whenever possible, if there's a need for it, ye shall have my bassoon. I'm generally good-humoured, love to get involved in fun events like fishing, campfires, rambles through the darkest depths, etc, and I WILL bring a generous supply of finest beer and biscuits.

Tolkien:

Have you read the books or seen the movies? What are your favourite scenes or images? :
Yes...many many times (although I'll admit I usually skip all the elf nonsense)
I am at heart a dwarf, and scenes involving them are my favourite, be it the tragic attack of Smaug on Erebor, or the dwarves escape from goblin-town. If I had to choose one moment, it'd be Thorin's singing in Bilbo's home before the great adventure.

Misc:

Is there anything else not covered in this application that you'd like to share with us? :
Having been playing LoTRO on and off (regretfully more off than on, because I'm an easily distracted idiot) since launch, I've finally settled on Landroval as home. I just wish it was called Arkenstone, as any true dwarf should, but sadly that name was taken. I'd played to level cap on several characters on Ark, but never found a kin there. If it's necessary, I'll happily move one of them with several large bags of gold coin over here to discreetly 'sweeten' my application.

Ohh, one other little thing. This is a Valar'ed character, with little interest in learning the finer points of Minstrel game-play. Don't ask me to keep anyone alive in raids or such.
