Just watched it, by far my favorite of them all.

It's an emotional rollercoaster full of surprises.
Take kleenex because tears ruin the 3D effect.

I just got back from watching it. As an insatiable trekkie, I really liked it. It was far better than the 2009 movie, and had so many nods to Wrath of Khan, it turned into one gigantic nod.

Saw it today too. Given we are now working in an alternate timeline, reboots of old content are to be expected, as is the case here where Star Trek II is pre-quelled, with a nice bit of irony at the end. I was not a fan of the whole alternate timeline concept from the previous movie and went into this one with lowered expectations, but came out pleasantly entertained. Definitely more entertaining than Iron Man III.

Back in 2009 when the first reboot movie came out, I threw a fit on my livejournal about how it wasn't like Star Trek at all and the alternate timeline was a gigantic can of worms gaping open and just waiting for a sequel to ruin.
Into Darkness, however, managed to be awesome and very much a polished up, modernised, explosion-riddled version of the Star Trek I know and love.

Spock's cry gave me the shivers!
I totally loved the first movie. To see how the friendships between the crew forms was so wonderful to see and very well set up.
And Into Darkness is so very well done too in my opinion. I remember the trailer and wondered why are they running through a red jungle, jumping off a cliff and what does a vulcan in a vulcan? The reason was so very well crafted and made me remember fondly many episodes of *all* the different series about the specific topic of what they do in that forest and so on. It was so great. And Cumberbatch my ass, he is one awesome actor and to me the first really believable counterpart to Kirk and Spock. The motivations of his character were so very well thought through and what he does to achieve his goals is quite genius.
So many scenes that made you laugh, cheer, sweat, cry -- man what a movie.

This one was a far better movie to me. Its more like the original TV series it is supposed to reflect where James T Kirk goes tomcatting around the galaxy!

I just got to see this last night. When we got to the theater the tickets were all sold out, so we went back for the 10:15 showing. It was a late night but totally worth it!
Now I need to go watch Wrath of Khan again - I don't remember it nearly well enough to enjoy all the connections.
