re: Ales & Tales, 3/11: "One of you must do this"

It currently looks like neither I nor Lenn will be there tonight to lead Old Winyards. Also, we do not yet have a location lined up (perhaps one of our kinhouses will suffice?). In fact, any help that you might offer would be rather helpful: http://tinyurl.com/atstagecrew. It would be unfortunate to break the string of weekly performances after three and a half years.

Windy Acres Ranch at 9 Chestnut Street, Raglan, Bree is always available for events.
There is enough pipe-weed and alcohol in the downstairs chests to keep the crowd well stocked.
There is plenty of room for music and dancing both inside and out.

I probably won't be able to make it tonight, but if I find myself free, I will certainly log in and do whatever I can to help.

I will be more then happy to play the role of MC for tonight's A&T. I know that it does not solve the larger problem of heading up OW.. but i just do not have the experience in coordinating a 4+ member band and setting up a set list. It goes without saying that I will be there to fill a spot in the band... and if there is anything else i can do... let me know.

Eeeek! That is rough - I'll "attempt" to be there early enough to try to fill in for Byrcha and song wrangle.

A&T is only a few hours away. Is there a decision on location yet? I was asked and had no clue... of course that's often the case, but I do want to be helpful. 8)

How about the new big park in Bree (across from the jail), or the redesigned area back by the Bree Hunter's Lodge?

I'll be there to help as needed, but I don't know about song-wrangling, yikes!

P.S. Your link didn't take me to the right place, Byrcha.

I will certainly be available to assist. :) I've hosted a concert or two in my day. Is there an OW-specific songbook, or is it just the updated LMB songbook?

re: Ales & Tales, 3/11: "One of you must do this"

Thank you all for volunteering! It is the abundance of helpful kinfolks who step up to take on roles like this that have made A&T such a long-running success!

Molly - the period at the end of the sentence is probably getting mixed into the link. Try just http://tinyurl.com/atstagecrew and it should work.

The locations suggested sound fine - I will put down the Bree park across from the jail for tonight and maybe a few weeks later we can do the Hunter's Lodge area (so as not to spend weeks in a row in the same zone :-) ) Also, locations can be edited in the stage crew doc linked above too, so any week that you go to sign up for stage crew and see that I (or someone) hasn't already listed a location for the week, it's fine for anyone to pick a spot and list it there and we will go with that. Stage crew and A&T planning are really very first come first served!

Re: the songbook - yes, it is just the updated LMB songbook (which was pretty recently updated, wasn't it? So whoever leads OW should be sure to remind players to check that they have the most recent download so their songs match the ones you're calling for...)

A tip for bandleaders and tonight's stage manager - you can add a page to the stage crew doc linked above and put the show notes there. Byrcha often uses such a page to list the playlist for OW's opener and closer sets, and as stage manager I would use it to list out the acts I had collected - that way if the stage manager goes link dead or anything, others in the stage crew can look up what act is supposed to go next.

Already started to put a setlist together... if anyone can play with the band, let me know (and what you can/can't play instrument-wise)...

Yes, that worked, Lenn, many thanks! I've signed up for stage manager. :)

Tomrica, I can play lute, horn, clarinet, drum, and harp.

I cannot guarantee I can be there for the opening, but I should be able to stick around for the closing set if you need me. I can play anything, though I am currently with out a moor cowbell.

I am available to play all instruments tonight for A&T, and I can have 1 or 2 other minnies multi-boxed standing by if needed.

I signed up to write a blog about tonight, if there is anything else you need, please let me know!
