re: Monday May 21, 2018 - What floats? We don't! A Silly Story

Once upon a time, the Lonely Mountain Banders and friends went swimming in the river by Bree-town. The water was fine, but we felt strangely heavy. We may have been tired from all the dancing at Ales and Tales! So we sat on the river bottom making bubbles and playing 'which pets float'. A lovely time was had by all (except maybe the pets).

That is one oddly glitchy area.

[quote="Carysta"]Once upon a time, the Lonely Mountain Banders and friends went swimming in the river by Bree-town. The water was fine, but we felt strangely heavy. We may have been tired from all the dancing at Ales and Tales! So we sat on the river bottom making bubbles and playing 'which pets float'. A lovely time was had by all (except maybe the pets).

And after which Carysta, Zaren, and Milbar met an odd man named Kalladan. He rented a house in the center of town (Quite possibly the cat lady's house). He then coerced the two young hobbits and the reluctant elf into following him into Bree. He showed him a "hobbit house" but it was far from it, besides the fact that a hobbit was outside the front door. After the three made it quite clear it was not a hobbit home, Kalladan lead them up the hill to actual hobbit homes. After a long stretch of silence, he took the three through a farmer's crop to get to the Bree Stage outside the Prancing Pony. Here he asked if they had instruments, in a tactic to steal them from the travelers. Without reply the three took the stage and played a song. The man was surprised that the small company were able to play so well. With a skip in their step and a song in their heart they did not sync together for the second song, when starting again Milbar was caught daydreaming and didn't start playing with the others. It wasn't until the end of the song that he started playing a rough beat. Kalladan clapped with joy with a smirk in his eye.

"That was amazing," he said with a joyful tone, but his voice turned to that of a sly theif, "Drinks on me!"

"One more." Zaren said.

With one last song to play, they started well. However, after seeing a baker delivering pies Cary jumped for joy causing her music to fly all over the place and not being able to resume playing in the trio. Seeing that this last song was a lost cause they all stopped and decide it was time to get those drinks.

"Let's go get those drinks," Milbar said thirst getting to him.

The Music Trio jumped off the stage and followed the man across to the Prancing Pony. Milbar waited at the door for Cary and Zaren and entered with them. When they walked into the Pony the two hobbits, who had never been before, gasped at how big it was.

"This is way bigger than the Green Dragon." Milbar muttered.

"Barliman, Give my friends the best drinks you've got. It's on me." Kalladan said winking at Barliman the Inn keeper.

Milbar and Cary jumped up on a chair together. Milbar, who was little unfamiliar with the drink asked Cary what to get. Cary just slid half a pint of Barliman's Best to Milbar. With a few big gulps, Milbar downed the drink. Zaren and Cary were both surprised as Milbar started getting dizzy really quickly. Suddenly he started black out and lost his footing on the stool falling hard onto the floor. Cary tried to grab him but missed and Zaren just rolled her eyes as she downed a large mug of Ale.

"Is your friend okay?" Kalladan asked trying to sound concerned.

"It's okay he does this a lot," Cary said, "He doesn't drink much."

Zaren added, "This happens every time."

Cary dumped a boot full of water onto Milbar and he woke up. Kalladan then asked if they would like to sit, the trio said yes so they made their way over to a long table. Milbar, who was still drunk, walked up on top of the table and past out.

"Not up there Milbar," Kalladan said with disgust.

Again Cary dumped another boot full of water onto Milbar, reluctantly he sat on the bench. Kalladan started asking questions that a identity thief would, "What's the meaning of your name?" and such. First he asked Cary but she was too busy eating pie to answer. Milbar told the story of his name with utter detail, and a good amount of slurring, because he was still loose of tongue from the drink. Zaren gave him no information whatsoever because she saw right through him, Cary on the other hand was so deep into her pies that she sold her family out and gave him the name of all her sisters.

As the conversation died, they trio wanted to leave. The guards were going to be changing at the Bree Town Vault and their plans to rob it were going to be ruined if they didn't leave soon. Cary just finished her pie, and figured she would be the distraction to get rid of the man.

"Let's go to the festival!" Cary shouted.

Kalladan smirked, "That's a great idea..."

"Yeah that is." Zaren agreed.

They all got up and made their way towards the door. As they got outside, a few ponies were available to ferry people to the festival grounds. Everyone walked over to the ponies but Milbar stay back aways. The trio all looked at each other and looked at Milbar. Milbar nodded.

"I be just a moment, I have to go... uhh... rob the Bree Town vault." Milbar said, his tongue still loose from the drink.

Cary Scolded him, "He doesn't mean that."

Zaren Glared at Milbar.

"I certainly hope not, that's not good." Kalladan remarked a bit surprised by it all.

Milbar ran off as the other waited. A while later Milbar came back on a treasure laden pony.

"Okay let's go," Milbar said fast, looking behind him.

They all took off towards the festival grounds.

When they got their Zaren and Milbar ran into the maze to hide the gold while Cary entertained Kalladan with music of her own creating. Later they hid the gold Milbar came back to talk with Cary to find Kalladan still there. Shortly after Milbar arrived, Kalladan hard to return his horse he rented to the stable.

After he left, Cary and Milbar looted the wealth patrons at the festival. They acquire many expensive items, and even a magical keg that transport them to different places. Fate would have it that Milbar would end up in a pig sty.

The End.

Milbar, you are an excellent storyteller. That really was a wonderful adventure we all had in Bree yesterday. Cary, those screenshots look great too. Testing which pet floats was fun.
