re: The Song of Beorn

Hi friends!

Well, I still seem to be stuck in the 60s. This one's based on The Minotaur Song by The Incredible String Band. You can hear the original song (worth a listen!) here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSQrzHOtbPI

The lyrics are here: http://rock.rapgenius.com/The-incredible-string-band-the-minotaurs-song-lyrics

If you didn't hear the song, there is a chorus that chimes in quite a bit and repeats the line in the 3rd person. I've put those in italics. (It might read a little better if you hear the original song first.) Sadly, the odds of there being an abc or midi of the original song are about as good as the odds of you knowing about the Incredible String Band before you read this post wink

Just more nonsense, really...

The Song of Beorn

Straight from the shoulder
I think like a soldier
I know what's right and what's wrong
He knows what's right and what's wrong.

I’m the original discriminating grizzly bear man
And I’ll hunt down all the goblins I can
He’ll hunt down all the goblins he can

I live on the Carrock by the old oak trees
My horses and dogs do as I please
I like eating honey from my bees
He likes eating honey from his bees

The goblin Bolg was cruel and fell
His dastardly deeds too dark to tell
So I mauled his guards and crushed him well
He mauled his guards and crushed him well

I roam through the woods without a care
He roams through the woods without a care
It takes all day to comb my hair
It takes all day to comb his hair

I’m broad as a boulder, tall as a tree
He’s broad as a boulder, tall as a tree
The furriest man you’ll ever see
The furriest man you’ll ever see

A grizzly man will love his life
If he can find a grizzly wife
But sometimes people point and stare
It’s nearly more than I can bear, bear, bear

I’m broad as a boulder, tall as a tree
He’s broad as a boulder, tall as a tree
The furriest man you’ll ever see
The furriest man you’ll ever see

I’m the original discriminating grizzly bear man
And I’ll hunt down all the goblins I can
He’ll hunt down all the goblins he can

Thanks Beorbrand! It's kind of funny--when I posted this yesterday, I was thinking, "Wouldn't it be great if they made Beornings a playable class in Lotro?" Then I logged into the game, and the kin chat when I got on was about Beornings being the next class they're adding to the game. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about the chance to go bear-crazy on some goblins :)

I'm sure this isn't right, but when I started reading the lyrics (mind you I didn't click on the links you posted yet) the first tune that entered my head was the Monty Python Lumberjack song. lol

Oh he's a Beorning and he's okay, he's talks to bees and eats honey all day!

Thanks Corumael!

GrooWanderer--that's hilarious! Now that I'm thinking of it, The Minotaur Song is definitely very Pythonesque!
