So true! I asked once before if we could use our own site or if the MOTD is enough.
Does anyone else think we would benefit from a basic site and forums, or are things simpler/better without?
I'm honestly happy either way.

Having one won't hurt, even as just a database of characters and guides. A way for people to find things out without needing to log into the game.

I have set up a site here: taris.gamerlaunch.com

Give it a look and see if it'll do what you'd like.
Let me know if there's anything I can add to make it better? :)

Oh.... I like... very nice looking. It appears I don't have a gamerlaunch account and will need to create one to post and will do that tomorrow.

Thanks for all the work getting it going, Kira!! :)

Guild Launch is the old name for Gamer Launch. You don't need to make a new account.
You may need to log in again with your normal name/password.

For those who haven't been by to visit in awhile, the Republic guild now has a flagship! It's huge, provides orbital support, and needs a name. If you happen to be good at naming ships, please head over to Taris.GamerLaunch.com and post suggestions, thanks!

Sorry, I havn't had any interest to log in lately, but that's awesome! I'm no good at naming ships, but they seem to have a them of having the word The at the start. Like 'The Redeemer' for example.

If you log into SWTOR.com, go to "My Account", click "Code Redemption", and enter "NYCANTINA16", you will get a new mount for all of your characters! Don't delay, this code won't last forever.

Having seen what an orbital strike looks like, I think we're launching Key Lime pies...

A quick news update from SWTOR:

* Character server transfers are discounted for the rest of the year.

* Life Day runs from December 13 to January 10. Vendors with holiday vehicles, decorations, and more will be located on Fleet. Holiday missions can be found on capital planets (Coruscant and Dromund Kaas).

* 5th Anniversary celebration runs from December 13 to January 17, with the "big day" on December 20. New free gifts such as toys and decorations will be available through special vendors on Fleet.

* Make sure to log in on December 13th and 20th, as event vendors tend to have more available on those days.

* Coruscant and Dromund Kaas strongholds will cost 5 credits during Life Day.

re: Star Wars: The Old Republic -- Satele Shan Server

Here's an FAQ for the current events:

* You can get a Life Day snowball bomb from the Master of Ceremonies on Fleet near the GTN (galactic trade network) kiosks. It costs 1,000 credits and has unlimited use. This is the toy you will need to participate fully in the Life Day events.

* You can hit almost anyone (NPCs/PCs/companions) with the snowball bomb. This gives you a small chance of receiving a Parcel. You must hit a target that doesn't already have your snowflakes on it. Once you hit a target, you must wait for the snowflakes to wear off or for someone else to hit them with a snowball. It's best to farm parcels with a partner or in a crowd.

* Life Day parcels can be traded to the Master of Ceremonies on Fleet for prizes such as toys, vehicles, pets, cosmetics, and decorations. The goodies cost between 5 and 100 parcels.

* On the homeworlds, you can hit Life Day gift droids with snowballs for a slightly increased chance of receiving a parcel. It is important to look for Overheated Gift Droids since these have double the parcel drop rate and also drop Life Day holo tree decorations. Overheated droids will try to attack you until you hit them with a snowball -- don't kill them!

* Gift droids can be found on Coruscant near the Taxi and Senate Plaza. They are located on Dromund Kaas near the taxi, the city front gates, in and around the lower plaza. There are many more droids and celebrants on Coruscant, so farm parcels with your Republic toon if possible.

* It is considered polite to announce in General chat if you find an Overheated Gift Droid. People use both OHD (over-heated droid) and OGD (overheated gift droid) as abbreviations. A simple location will do, such as "near the taxis".

* If your character has reached level 70, when you get a parcel, you will also receive GXP towards galactic command ranks. This is currently the fastest way to increase command rank. You get a GC pack for each command rank you gain. If your side (Light/Dark) is winning when you gain the rank, you also receive a valuable Light/Dark token.

* It's good to get more Life Day holo trees and anniversary posters than you will ever place in a stronghold. Each one you unlock gives you +2 prestige, even if you never decorate with it. Make sure to get your limit of posters, 50 of each type. Don't worry, they're free!

* The anniversary vendor is located on Fleet near the stronghold kiosks. Look for him on the inner wall of the outer ring.

And of course, here's the guide: http://dulfy.net/2016/12/13/swtor-life-day-2016-and-five-year-anniversary-guide/

re: Star Wars: The Old Republic -- Satele Shan Server

Hello!

I've heard that some of you are a bit confused by all the changes to SWTOR that came with patch 5.0. Here's a quick guide that should help you enjoy the upgrades.

Once you reach level 70, your character will have access to a fun new game feature -- Galactic Command (GC). Instead of gaining levels once you reach cap, you gain command ranks. These are unlimited, so you'll never stop earning rewards.

Organizing Missions

As you probably know, there are missions available that reward you for completing a group of other missions. For example, there are daily and weekly PVP missions that ask you to complete a number of rounds in the battlegrounds. There is a quest that rewards you for killing 3 world bosses. There are even space missions that reward you for finishing two related space combats.

It was a bit of a pain to get these missions. You had to go to the right terminal on Fleet. Thanks to Galactic Command (GC), you can pick them up anywhere using the GC screen. Simply click the graphic for the corresponding type of play.

Now you can also get credit for completing Heroic missions on a particular planet. Choose Planetary Missions and you will be offered a mission to complete heroic objectives on a particular planet. Don't like that planet? Simply decline the offer and click Planetary Missions again. It's random, so before long you'll get the mission for the planet you want.

Using the GC screen, you will gain additional rewards for doing whatever activity you were already planning to do.

Dark Versus Light

You have a little toggle button somewhere on your screen with the Light and Dark icons. You can click to change the toggle at any time. Whichever side you choose, your activities will add points to it. Whenever the Light or Dark side gains in strength, you'll see a notification pop up on your screen. You can also check the GC screen at any time to see how your side is doing.

This affects you in three ways.

If you gain a command rank while your side is winning, you also gain a Light or Dark token. You can find these in the Currency tab of your inventory. Your side doesn't need to completely win, just be ahead in the tally. If you're about to level up and your side is losing, don't worry. Switch sides, turn in your quest, get your Light or Dark token, and switch back again. There are fun items to buy with tokens on both sides, so you'll probably want to earn a bit of both.

If your side has won (IE: Light or Dark is at level 5), you will see a countdown timer appear. The Light or Dark will be "victorious" for one hour. A special vendor for the winning side will appear on Fleet, allowing you to spend your Light/Dark tokens. After one side wins, the other side gets a bonus to their point accumulation. This means that neither side can completely dominate the game. Both Light and Dark will have a chance to win.

Completing missions as Dark or Light contributes a few points toward your character's alignment. This significantly reduces the grind of reaching Light 5 or Dark 5 on a particular character.

New Ways To Play

You can earn GC XP by doing all the things you love -- PVP, story missions (chapters), heroic (planetary) missions, flashpoints, operations, and starfighter space battles.

You can also participate in a new type of mission -- Uprisings! These are a bit harder and longer than heroic/planetary missions, but not nearly as long or involved as flashpoints. They're a nice hybrid of the two. You can tackle them with 2-4 players, depending on your gear and companion influence. Once you get the hang of an uprising, you can finish in 15-20 minutes.

Now you can repeat story chapters and see what would have happened if you had made different choices. Replay a story mission at any time, but keep one important fact in mind -- your first choice is the one that the game remembers.

Amazing Rewards

Every time you gain a command rank, you will receive a loot pack in your inventory. Open it up! You have a special GC stash where the items are stored until you decide what to do with them. They won't clutter up your inventory. You can open your stash by clicking the little package icon next to your command rank bar on the GC screen.

If you like an item, check the box and Claim it. You'll receive gear, pets, vehicles, crafting materials, and more. The items are Legacy bound, so you can claim them with any character.

If you can't use or sell the item, Disintegrate it. This will give you more GC XP and help you gain the next rank faster.

You will also receive Gear Pieces and Command Tokens. If you don't get the item you really want from the random loot pack, you can buy it from a vendor using these rewards. If RND doesn't favor you, you can still work toward your favorite items.

Pets and vehicles can be sold in the GTN, as they don't bind. The vehicles sell for considerably more credits.

That's basically all you need to know. The game will reward you no matter how you like to play, PVP or PVE, solo or group.

Feel free to reply at Taris.GamerLaunch.com if you have any questions. I hope to see you online soon. May the Force be with you!

I am happy to announce the first Tarisian guild contest!

Submit a SWTOR screenshot in a reply to the contest thread on our web site for a chance to win a Kakkran Daggerstar. The theme of the screenshot is "planetside travel". Show us your best travel picture -- this includes animal mounts, vehicles, trams, shuttles, and all other forms of on-world transportation. The code unlocks a Daggerstar for every character on all servers.

The deadline is Midnight on February 28th. Good luck!

Our web page is at http://taris.gamerlaunch.com/
