re: I believe the Hobbits are our future (LOTR Musical?)

Hi friends!
So, the other day I was thinking, 'What if they made the Lord of the Rings into a musical?' It quickly developed (or, rather, devolved) into an image of Gandalf--played, of course, by Ian McKellen--singing "I believe the Hobbits are our future" to the Council at Rivendell. The original is 'The Greatest Love of All' by Whitney Houston. It looks like there is an ABC file over at lotro-abc.com that would probably work if you're really hard up for new songs to play and don't mind being a bit cheesy in classic 80s fashion.

Sadly, there are two or three other songs for the 'musical' stewing in my head. Perhaps, if you're lucky, I'll never get around to writing them...

By the way, I had just read Lilikate's excellent 'Don't Touch My Pie!' song when I started this, which accounts for some of the lyrics.

I believe the Hobbits are our future

I believe the Hobbits are our future
Give them the Ring and they will find the way
Show them all the courage they possess inside
Feed them some mushroom pies to make it easier
Let our silly, furry friends guide us all to victory

Everybody’s searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
But I have found that heroes can be really small
Sometimes they’re three feet tall
But at least they don’t have far to fall

Chorus
Hobbits decided long ago, never to go without second breakfast
To always drink, to always eat
More than they could ever need
But even though they aren’t petite
You can’t take away their dignity
Because their greatest joy of all
Is a life that’s carefree
They find the greatest joy of all
In biscuits and tea
The greatest joy of all
Is easy to achieve
Loving to eat and drink
Is the greatest joy of all

I believe the Hobbits are our future
Give them the Ring and they will find the way
Show them all the courage they possess inside
Feed them some mushroom pies to make it easier
Let our silly, furry friends guide us all to victory

(At this point, as the chorus repeats, a completely unnecessary choir of Hobbit children come on the stage singing harmonic Oohs and Aahs)

Chorus

And if, by chance, the food runs out
And there’s no beer at all
Our little friends will still prevail
They will find the way
