re: Extra Life Fundraiser Event

I'd be more than happy to offer the Musical Creatures, I imagine by September my connection problems will be solved.

re: Extra Life Fundraiser Event

Hrm, what we need is a great advertisement...

What shall we call this event? Just in case we do it every year, it needs a good name. Let's see...
* Bree-land Storyteller's Festival
* Tales Around The Campfire
* Storyteller's Shindig
* Faces By Firelight
* Bard's Banquet
* Autumn Tunes and Tales

Okay, not such great names. I'm sure you can think of a better one!

What's a good way to describe it?

We should have some fun prizes to give away.

I like "Storyteller's Festival" :D
It's very easy to remember and it's descriptive and sounds nice too!

If there are too complicated words it'll be very hard for us who aren't from an English speaking country to remember it blushing Like the word "Shindig" :)

A name that is pretty and descriptive and sticks to everyone's memory like glue is what I like! =D

Also, this sounds like a very fun event! :D

Storyteller's Festival also stood out for me. And how appropriate, with such a literate player base that adores Tolkien, one of the world's finest storytellers? Very creative idea!

Storyteller's Festival it is!

How much time should we give each competitor to tell one story, recite one multi-verse poem, or play one long ballad?
I know some of you have more experience with storytelling at Ales and Tales.
How many minutes are needed for a short yet entertaining yarn?

What categories should we let people compete in, or otherwise how to award prizes?

Based on Green Dragon Fridays, I would suggest five to seven minutes.

re: Extra Life Fundraiser Event

Here's an idea for the fundraiser. I could really use your feedback on it. If we get even a fraction of the support from volunteers that we got for Weatherstock, we should be able to raise quite a bit of money for the charity.

TITLE: Storyteller's Festival
DATE: Saturday, September 20 at 6:00pm servertime.

Does the time/date work for you? I made it a little earlier so it's better for European folks.

DESCRIPTION: A gathering of storytellers and bards celebrating the Autumn equinox. Songs will be sung and stories will be told around the campfires in Raglan. Prizes will be awarded for Best Short Story, Best Poem, and Best Ballad. Performers will have five minutes to perform a single song with lyrics or ten minutes to tell a story. The audience votes for their favorites by donating money to Sapience's Extra Life charity. The performers who earn the most donations win Turbine Points.

The idea is to let each artist pick a spot around the decorated portion of the neighborhood to play their song or tell their story. We can start at the ranch, then make a procession to each location to hear the artists. After we loop back up to the ranch, we can check donations on the site to see who won.

How does that sound? Is this a good way to host a fundraiser?

Would anyone volunteer to put together a poster for this event?

Sure, poems, too. Sounds good to me! A ballad's really just a poem to music. ;)
