re: Sunday Night Siege July 22nd, 2012

this latest Sunday Night Siege was a little different, and entertainingly so - we took a company of 5 and travelled back and forth across the lengths of southern Mirkwood, chasing down a good half-dozen vol 2 epilogue quests, and then completed some deeds and some old 3-man instance runs for fun

the same company also fought the evil sorcerer Gorthul in the terrible fortress of the Necromancer, Dol Guldor - we knocked out the epilogue challenge, defeated the new sorcerer, and had a most fearsome audience with the lord of shadow himself...(good screenshot moments)

there are huge number of those epilogue quests, so any looking to chase those down, you'll find questgivers in virtually every area of mirkwood, as well as Lorien, 21st hall in Moria, and so on and so forth - finding some company to help knock those out faster always helps, as does sharing the quests you *have* found, and having some friends share with you, can help chase those down - if you're curious as to how many left you have to find, theres a deed that for completing them all - find that deed, and it'll give you a decent checklist for how many of those quests you have left

I also understand that Gearthand led a company into one of the wings of Orthanc for battle and adventure - they may not have emerged *entirely* triumphant, but they're still a few steps ahead of me (as I haven't even set foot inside the instance) and I imagine walked out with a far greater mastery of the instance for the experience

This upcoming Sunday, again, I'm not sure what adventures will present themselves, but I've spent far too long chasing down high level instance runs - I'll be sure to make a dedicated effort to grab some low level companies in the 20-30 range if at all possible - if not, we have a host of people that still need Carn Dum items, folks that want to revisit Annuminas, and, as always, a rather eager and adventurous group of level caps that are all set to chase down instances in the Roots of Fangorn, Orthanc, and Isengard

again, feel free to post here if there is something particular you'd like to do, something you'd like to offer your services for, or any instance running related questions you might have

Until then, I bid you all good hunting and good fortune

*sighs* -- missed it again. Apparently the Evil One has cursed me so that he allows his lieutenants to retreat only when I'm no where around to help.

Well, congratulations on ousting the evil from Dol Guldur, if only for awhile.

I'm very sorry Tamirien - sadly, every sunday evening is a an adventure in itself, as far as balancing who's on, who want's what, who's ready for what, and so forth - don't give up though - we had a lot of fun, gained some experience on how those epilogue quests work, and the more people that are more familiar both with what the run entails and how hard it can be to find a group to get it done, are often willing to lend their aid to help out those that come after

Mellilot is approaching level 40, and I would like to join in some fellowship runs. IC she has the disadvantage of not being able to run (without bumping into things, tripping up, or falling off cliffs), but does use her acute hearing and spatial awareness given a little time; in combat she mostly relies on her songs and ballads, backed up by swings of her club if nasties get too close. OOC I have done all my quests etc solo, and I am just plain unfamiliar with the many fellowship songs she has, and need to get to know these and their uses. Also, I have to confess, I am not as quick-thinking or quick-fingered as I used to be.
Having said all of which, if I can help with mid-level runs I'll be happy to join, and do my best not to let the party down .......

that's great Mellilot - Sunday Night Sieges are *especially* designed for folks just like you - those trying to figure out the ins and outs of fellowship grouping, especially since lately, the game really doesn't make early grouping nearly as...necessary...as it used to be. SNS is the perfect time to meet up with people without the expectation of the experience being a learning experience, an opportunity to train a little bit

However, I'll warn you, the 40's are the awkward teen years of LOTRO - one of the hardest things to manage in LOTRO is getting groups of roughly similar leveled people - I've got lots of folks with lots of alts that are often willing to help, but the 40's are a rough area to start instancing in - not many folks are consistently in that level range (leveling is so quick that they don't stay 40 for long) and going with much higher level escorts can still be a good learning experience, but does take some of...challenge...out of it

I think at 40 you're looking at scaled versions of the Great Barrow, Fornost which recently got a very interesting revamp, and I think annuminas may be accessible at the 40's as well - both GB and Fornost have gotten relatively current gameplay revamps which makes them rather nice, Annuminas is still a bit dated, but it's an absolutely gorgeous zone (with some rather nice cosmetic rewards)

so, be sure this sunday (or whenever you're on) to post your interests, and I'll be happy to help if at all possible, in organizing (and perhaps even leading, although I'm either coming with andeon at 75, or with my alts in their 20's) a group to teach you some of the basics of grouping, and of whatever instance we can get into

Brambel just hit level 39 and will be most pleased to join in any high 30's low 40's SNS.

Laurellana (LM) and Waryn (mini) are 40 and 41, but very rusty from having sat around doing nothing for so long.
