When you start our in Mordor on a 105 cappy you will do best to use Mathom House armor as you slowly gain your LOE gear for the area, Once oyu hit level 115 I can make you a set of gear that will serve you well till you can trade in Erebor for the top tier ash gear.

Thanks all. I've opted to Aria of the Valar a captain up to 105 so that I can start to participate in kin-events. Captain was the one class I knew well before, so I assume the main issue will be getting his deeds in shape.

I'd appreciate help with gearing him. I have a fair amount of gold from the old days to cover costs of mats. Advice would be particularly welcome!

Welcome back, indeed! Low level areas are still some of the best experiences in the game, in my mind anyway. haha

Enjoy your time in Middle Earth! :)

Hi all,

I have been away from the game for, erm, half a decade, I guess. But the life membership still works and so I thought I'd dive back in to Middle Earth (maybe reading the Hobbit with my daughter helped). I left because Rohan was a horrifying lagfest for me. It seems like things are better... or at least my new laptop is holding up better. I'm playing slow and with lowbies... if you see me on and are looking for low level instances, I'm up for it!

Best,

Aerendur, Doronor, Barengil, Aerengil...

Have you read & do you agree with LMB charter?:
Yes

Do you understand that Kin chat channel is for LOTRO and and Tolkien related chat only?:
Yes

Use this area to share why you want to join LMB.:
I have played LOTRO since SoA and love the game. In the past couple of years, I got into "competitive play" PvE raiding and PvP. I enjoyed both and still love PvP. But I also got burnt out and felt that raiders were not necessarily the same players I liked to "hang out with" My first kin was mature and generalist, but it has since broken up... most of the old faces are not there anymore. So, it is time for a change. I still hope to do instances and PvP, but I don't want them to be my focus. And I want to be reminded of Tolkien's magic more.

Player info:

Age Range:
Old Fogey

Tell us about any RP or MMO experience you may have: :
I played D&D since before "Advanced" (yes, I am old). I played LOTRO since SoA. I also tried other MMOs but I didn't feel as at home in them as I do in Middle Earth

Please tell us what time zone you are in. (i.e. EST): :
EST

Character information:

Tell us about your character: :
Doronor has no back story per se. He was based loosely on the two blue wizards who were sent to the East (no, I am not imagining that he is an Istari!): a wizened traveller, white of beard, but hale as a man in his youth... you get the picture.

Please tell us of any previous/current kinships you have character(s) in LOTRO. :
Kings Beyond the Wall (till 2010), Hobbitual (till this past month)

LMB experience:

Were you referred by a current member? Who?: :
No, but I have spoken to Harperella online about the kin

Have you ever been to LMB hosted event? If yes, what were your impressions? If no, are you planning on it in the next week? (Highly recommended!):
I have not been. I'd like to attend if I can fit it into my schedule (heavy workload and highly demanding 2 year old daughter).

Gameplay preferences:

What activities do you enjoy most in LOTRO? :
PvP, instances with friends, exploring.

Kinship expectations:

What are your expectations from LMB as a member? :
I want to be able to explore all aspects of the game with folks who love Tolkien. No drama, a variety of play styles, maturity.

What do you think your strongest contribution to LMB would be? :
I was an officer in KBTW and have a strong sense of community. I like to craft and engage with kin.

Tolkien:

Have you read the books or seen the movies? What are your favorite scenes or images? :
Both, many, many times. Favorite scene? I've always been partial to the scene where the hobbits return to the Shire in their armour and give heart to their fellows against Sharkey's men.

Misc:

Is there anything else not covered in this application that you'd like to share with us? :
My only real fear about the kin is that it may be too large. But, as discussed with Harperella, I expect to get out of it what I put in.
